You’re my home – chapter 28
Tina rested her hand on Alice’s arm
“Promise ?”
“Totally “
“Okay – lets go and see how Shane is “
Shane was looking in a cupboard for something – Tina looked at Alice who shrugged.
After a few seconds the young woman drew out a bong pipe
“Shane – that’s not the answer “
“It is – I am going to my room “
“Come on Shane – talk to us “
“Drop the latch on the door when you leave “ Shane said barely looking at Alice
“Shane “
“No – you have all made it very clear what you think of me and the way I act. Well I am a grown up and I don’t have to justify myself to a bunch of losers like you lot “
“We are your friends “
“Not the way you judge me and find that I come oh so short of your standards “ Shane snapped back looking at Tina for the first time
Tina sighed – she really could see so much of Bette’s self destructiveness in Shane. Both capable of immense love and loyalty and also capable of betrayal. She glanced at Alice
“I am going back to change so I can get Angie from pre-school – I’ll see you around Alice – Shane – we are your friends. And friends don’t say nothing when they see someone they care about careering out of control. See you “
She walked out worried about Shane but also relieved that Bette seemed to have finally grown out of that self destroying trait of hers. There had been some times in the past that Tina never wanted to experience again. Maybe motherhood had been the final spur that Bette had needed to get her act into gear. She would never let Angie see the mood swings or wild and unpredictable outbursts of self abuse and loathing. Bette wanted the best for their daughter and that had meant that she had to come to terms with her own flaws.
——————————————————–
Bette pulled up her Saab behind Tina’s car and slammed on the brakes. She took a final swig of the cold water in the bottle in her lap and let out a long breathe of air. She had just endured a six hour senate council meeting that had to go down as the most tedious and pointless meeting in a life time of meetings. God the art world just loved meetings – what the hell for ? They were supposed to be creative and compassionate people – not drones who worked for the IRS. So why did they have so many meetings – it wasn’t just the sheer number of meetings -it was the length.

Ally…loving it. I sure hope you bring Carmen into the story. I am wishing for that in S6 as well.
AllyE, you always amaze with the way you write “our girls.” Your dialogue for them is oh so perfect and so relaxed. They are simply in very close conversation with each other and it shows. It is so easy with them and so loving toward each other. Little kisses, hand squeezes and embraces, so natural and you show it all. Simply beautiful and wonderful. Hope Shane gets her act together and hopefully she does not take herself to the brink of destruction with the drugs and alcohol. Maybe Bette or Tina will be able to find Carmen and bring her back to Shane. Wonderful story and wonderful chapter. Post when you can.
My fix for the day!
Leave Shane alone awhile is my opinion, she needs thinking time. She knows she’s done wrong by Jenny. Love Angelica’s affection for Helena. PPS
I hope that Bette can find Carmen and talk her into coming back to Shane, it would be good for both of them. It’s GREAT to see the Kennard-Porter family in such a good place. PPS :o).
nice chat with bette and tina! shane once she finishes hitting bottom she will talk to someone. but she does need to grow up! so what is bugging alice? :)PPS
Hello AllyEmmerson, I am loving the new and fresh posts of this terrific tale. Fabulouis characteristation and humor in their wise words. Good to have Tina and Alice trying to shake Shane out of her doldrums. At least this provided Alice with an excuse to ignore her attraction to Clea. Good to know that Tina felt somethng was off with Alice. Then Bette and Tina show the wonders of a true and loving partnership as they converse and share their days and opinions. Just so precious that everything that they have been through has made them stronger and more open. I just adore your talent for dialogue. Perfection in words. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
Hey,every group of friends has the one or ones that holds them all together. Bette has always been the main lead, and Tina has been the calming influence. DAmn they do make a perfect couple. Love Angie with brushing the hair.
What the heck will straighten Shane out. Everyone has tried talking to her, reasoning with her but non of it seems to sink in. Let’s see what Bette can do with Carmen.
That was great and love B&T!
