    Tina talks, Tina cries…

     

    Alice opened the door and staggered back three steps

     

    “You’re dead!” She cried in utter fright looking at Bette who struggled to hide her amusement at Alice’s unusual greeting

     

    “Al, it’s OK” Bette said calmly “I wasn’t on the plane”

     

    Alice suspiciously eyed her friend as she stepped forward and reached out to touch Bette’s face. Upon feeling Bette’s cool skin against her hand Alice’s emotions crumpled and Bette pulled her into a hug

     

    “We thought…” Alice began through her tears as she held onto Bette “we thought you…” Alice pulled back to look at Bette again who now had tears in her eyes.

     

    “It’s OK Alice, I’m fine” Bette assured seeing the mix of fear and relief in Alice’s eyes

     

    “Why didn’t you call, why didn’t you let us know you were OK?”

     

    “When I left the airport I just needed to clear my head. I knew I was too angry to face Tina so I just drove up through the canyons and lost myself in there for the entire day. I turned the radio on as I was heading back into the valley so I could check the traffic report, that’s when I heard. I didn’t mean to put you through this Alice, I’m sorry”

     

    “You might want to save your apologies for Tina, she’s so broken up” Alice finally reigned in her emotions and turned her thoughts to Tina

     

    “Where is she?”

     

    “In the shower”

     

    “Alice, I really want to be alone with Tina right now” Bette tried to explain without hurting her friend

     

    “Yeah of course, absolutely” Alice agreed “I’m outta here”

     

    “Thanks” Bette smiled appreciatively

     

    Alice gathered her belongings from the coffee table before hugging Bette one last time

     

    “Thank god Bette, I can’t ***** believe it but thank god” She released Bette and headed to the door “Go find your wife Porter”

     

    “Night Alice” Bette smiled

     

    “Night”

     

    With that Alice was out the door and on her way to tell Dana and Shane of Bette’s miraculous appearance. Bette smiled to herself, she was beginning to understand that she had truly cheated death today but that was not the issue right now. She headed towards the bedroom to find Tina and set about fixing her broken heart.

    7. That is a relief she isn’t dead. This story is SO GOOD I am anxiously awaiting your next post. I am hoping Tina and Bette will be able to have the right conversation that will lead to a reconcilation

    19. Amazing! Even though we ‘knew’ you could not kill Bette off, you had us wondering the whole time which is really a work of art on your part. It took all day for Bette to come home, without a call, and her entrance was touching. I sort of wish Alice had stayed to maybe walk Tina out to Bette in order to dull the shock. How is Bette going to greet Tina without scaring the bejesus out of her :) Great story!!!

    21. Okay I have just read your entire story so far. Wonderful Story, hell it’s awesome. My heart is beating like a freight train. Can’t wait to read what you have in store for us next.

    23. I am still trying to get my breathe back. I hope Tina realizes as did bette you only live once and mistakes happen and we need to look at the Big Picture for what they really mean and continue with Life. Please post soon. thanks
