    The Letter ch. 21

    The Letter

    Chapter 21

Bette, after meeting Joyce, was handling the news of her former in laws wanting the kids much better than I would have thought. Of course, I didn’t know how she handled crisis but I don’t think I would be doing as well as she was. I met her, Alice, and Dana for lunch after they left Joyce and she and Alice had us laughing at the description of her. She was brash, conceited and a horn dog according to them. More importantly, they both felt that if anyone could help in the fight for the girls, it would be Joyce.

We spent the better part of the afternoon there. I understood more and more how much these women were really family. Shane, at some point joined us and Kit would come and sit as she was able to around the crowds that always seemed to be present. Conversations were only minimally about the happenings with the Warrens. They never seemed to lack things to talk about.

While there, we talked about visiting the girls. I was nervous about it. I know how much the girls mean to Bette and Bette to them. Everyone tried to reassure me that it would be fine and that the girls and I would get along. It was nice to hear but did little to alleviate my nervousness. I wanted so much for it to go well. If it didn’t, I feared what would happen between me and Bette. Although she said it would not be a factor with us, I think that she was nervous too.

When we left, I went back to my apartment and Bette went to run some errands before coming over to my apartment. When the girls returned, I would miss sleeping with her nightly. It didn’t matter if it was my apartment of her house, I just slept better when I was sleeping in her arms.

As I waited for her to arrive, I finished some work that I had started on earlier. When going through one of the contracts that I had, I found some discrepancies and called Bette to let her know that I had to go to my office to check on some things. She suggested that I just come to her place when I was done. I was going to have to get her a key so that she could come and go as she liked.

    1. L, your crazy, that opening line for the girls to meet Tina was great. So glad the kids liked Tina and hope they figure out how to get rid of the Warrens before the girls come home. Thank you. Md

    2. That was an awesome update. It seems that the girls and Tina are going to be okay. I think Lyss is already loving Tina. It is nice to see kids who really love their parents and vise versa. I am not sure about sleeping in a tent but the hiking part sounds cool.

    3. i’m with bette… give me a hotel any day… so glad the kids got along with tina… who wouldn’t… it was so cute to see them apart for 1 night… i think tina will be moving soon… love this s tory… can’t wait to see what the grand parents want… PPS

    4. I am with Bette..no camping, no tents! I too think something is way up with the Warrens, and I don’t think it is money. I think that there is a good reason Trisha doesn’t want her children anywhere near them..what could it be? As for Bette and Tina, methinks they are going just a wee bit fast, with all the love talk and involving the kids now, it’s only been a couple of weeks since they met, right? I hope its not too fast too soon. I too liked Bette’s icebreaking comment about the camping!

    5. NAG, again you have done a superb job with this chapter. So glad that the girls seem to like Tina. Bette’s line about camping really broke the ice for everyone. This was a lovely chapter and Em talking to Tina during the short walk was sweet. Tina isn’t a lawyer for nothing, she handled everything with great aplomb. Hope the Warren situation is taken care of soon and I know Joyce will get to the bottom of what is going on and I think my initial suspicion was correct, it is money. But how the hell did they find out about the money. Alice or her mother, well benefit of the doubt and all, maybe research. Really enjoyed this chapter. Thanks so much for posting. PPS
