Alice found herself feeling very stressed out and realized that is was due, in part, to not having worked out in several days. Since her normal partner was out of commission, Alice requested Sam, one of the senior guards, to come be a sparring partner.
The women had a long history together and enjoyed and easy sort of camaraderie when they were alone. Any other time, they kept it strictly professional.
They met in the exercise room at the main house. Sam was surprised to find that Alice had improved significantly in the couple months since they last sparred. Fairbanks must be a good partner. She was also a bit shocked at Alice’s ferocity. It was obvious that the young woman had a lot of stress and was looking for an outlet. Sam didn’t mind because she gave as good as she got and she knew Alice would expect nothing less.
That being said, Sam was relieved when Alice finally called a stop to the session. She seemed to finally get that excess energy out of her system. The two women stretched out, removed their pads and took seats on the bench to have some water and chat. Sam knew she could be open and relaxed with Alice when they were alone.
“I’ll be glad when Fairbanks is healthy. You were really kicking my ass today, Alice.”
Alice gave a grin. Sam, as usual, held her own during sparring. She may be older than most of the guards, but, Alice would put her money on Sam in a match against any of them.
“So… I had another reason I wanted to see you.” Alice started. “What is the feeling in the guardhouse regarding Dana?”
Sam wasn’t surprised at the question. She knew Alice pretty well and could tell she had deep feelings for the young guard. Her actions when Dana was hurt made it even more obvious. This was different from the dalliances Alice had in the past.
“Most of the guards think she is your assistant. There are a couple that questioned the timing between her job change and the guards who were sent off-island. I shut them down pretty quick by explaining the transition started long before then. Not many people remaining here know the details of what happened that night. It was a lucky coincidence that the problem was limited to just that one bunk room.” Sam hesitated before continuing. “She probably could come back without too many problems. However there would be some…speculation if she went back to guard duties.”

Hey MaGoose! I’ve been a silent fan of this story from the start. Anyways, I felt like I needed to take a moment to leave a quick comment. Anyone who knows me and reads my fics knows that i’m a diehard tibetter but I have to admit, Your stories and your writing style have captivated me. Thanks for sharing your story with us. And, as always, I shall be waiting impatiently for another update!
WooHooo! I come home from a LONNNNG freaking day and my lil buddy, QoG posted, soo excited. I’ll post soon enough..when it isnt summer anymore!!!! Damnit, Dana is jealous, Alice is being..overprotective..when are they going to get all of this sorted out? I’m glad Sam is around to keep everyone in check and Alice is keeping such a good handle on the freaking B, Gabby. Mohave Desert?! LoL Hopefully they are stuck on camel duty or something. A was smart enough to bring Sam in to work out some of her bottled up stress. I am also very pleased to see A discuss D’s situation if she were to return to her previous position. It was great to have Sam as such an honest, dedicated employee. I have to agree that Mohave Desert was a fine choice for Gabby. lol. Love AJ’s comment on it. And finally, a very jealous Dana! Not so cool in this case. I keep forgetting how young they were. I guess she would learn to keep her cool. Thank goodness Sam had her best interest at heart. Excellent job again Thank you, MaGoose.
