    Resolutions- Chapter 3

Alice, finished with Max, clicked back to Bette.  “Sorry about that, Bette.  Anyway, I was just about to tell you that Raven’s Retreat was the best option of all the camps I could find.”  Empty air filled the phone line.  “Bette?  Hello?”  Alice looked at her cell phone screen indignantly.  “I can’t believe she put me on hold!”  Holding the phone to her shoulder she looked at the coffee vendor behind the kiosk at the park.  “Large soy latte, please.”  As she waited, another buzzing in her ear alerted her to Shane’s call.  “Hey Shane,” she listened and responded, “Not much, Bette’s had me on hold for like ten minutes!”  Accepting the latte she smiled her thanks at the clerk and struck off across the park.  “What’s going on?”

“I read your e-mail on this camp,” Shane began.

                Alice prodded, “Yeah?”

“I’m not so sure I’m up for this wilderness stuff.  I thought camp was supposed to be more like swimming and hanging out…not this whole rafting, biking and hiking ordeal they make it sound like.  You know I’m not a granola type.”  Shane trailed off.

Alice chewed her lip for a minute, considering an answer.  “I vandalized a billboard for you.”

Shane sighed.  “Sometimes I hate you.”

“Yeah, yeah, but are you going?”

“Yes.”  Shane sounded as if the answer was ripped from her belly.

“Good.  Gotta go!” Alice switched lines with panache.  “Bette?”

“Still here.  I can’t believe I waited this long for you to talk to Max.”  Bette said plaintively.  “Really, Alice, you should have more respect for my time.”

“Oh don’t give me that, Porter….I know you put me on hold….so I talked to Shane as well.  She’s happily packing for camp.  No complaints from her.”

“It’s still two months away, Alice.”

“Figuratively,” Alice singsonged.  “God, for an artist you are very literal.  So you were saying about the cultural quaintness of North Carolina?”

“I’ve reconsidered my position.  I’m looking forward to it.”  Bette replied demurely.

“Oh.”  Alice was disappointed, as she was looking forward to using the same reasoning with Bette that she’d just used with Shane.  She’d figured that Bette would let loose an impressive stream of profanities if Alice had pulled the ‘I committed felony breaking and entering for you–not to mention stealing a one ton steel sign’ line on her.  In fact she’d rather looked forward to it.  “Well, that’s good.”  She was deflated.

    1. 2 months before they see each other again? Sandy could make a move or two by then. Of course, that just heightens the drama, and make for good reading, and… Well, Gold, I sincerely hope it won’t take you two months to post again. Cheers.

    2. Hi Gold, yep, Blue beat me to it–the thought of Lara and Sandy creating tension for a Lara and Alice Meeting-o-Rama: oh yeah baby, bring it on. Two whole months? Oh man…so much potential for tension (or time leap) there, which we all know -may- lead to even more satisfying resolutions (hehehe…). You keep me guessing as to where you are going, which of course creates the crack-like addictive effect of your marvy fics. I fully admit to checking back to see if you’ve updated and doing the happy dance when I see you have. And I love the imagery of Lara’s incident on her bike, but since she’s in good shape, she’ll snap out of it (with the help of an admirer that isn’t Alice? Ohhhh…don’t get in too deep, Lara…) I will be out of town for a spell coming up here, and away from internet access, so I look forward to being able to comment in the not TOO distant future. Meanwhile, your readership awaits;) Keep it up and as always, I can’t wait to see where you are taking our gals…and us. Please post soooooon!

    3. Two months. Eight 1/2 weeks. Sixty days. I can see Sandy reeling Lara in, bit by bit, over the course of that time. Hopefully, Lara’s resistant to the bait. I am completely intrigued to see how this is going to pan out once the girls get down there, I can tell it’s going to be ace. Loved the banter at the beginning of the chapter too, Gold. Thank you for the post.

    4. morning! i´m slowly waking up this morning after my nightshift, found your new chapter and enjoyed it with my first latte ;-)i´m with you, my thoughts were the same at the scene at danas camp. was one of my favorit at the show…so, alice and the girls have to wait for two month?? that´s a long time, but there are also some things to do, for alice and lara, before they could see each other again.right? and mountainriding is not the only thing… once more, sorry for my english…please update soon;-)

    5. I *love* the way this is all coming together – 2 months will give Lara and Sandy just enough time to get more flirty with each other, which means drama galore once Alice arrives! This was a great chapter, Gold – I thought the whole opening bit was terrific, with Alice blackmailing (or attempting to blackmail) her friends into coming to camp. She does have an awful lot of leverage on them all! I’m still looking forward to seeing how the gang makes out at camp… something tells me that Bette will be a natural at the mountain biking, whereas Alice will be smashing into more than one tree… And yes, you must include at least one shaving cream fight during their stay! Anyway, thanks for the great update – I look forward to the next!

    6. okay…. 2months?? datz a long time be4 they getta see each other…. hopefully lara stil hv feeling for alice after 2 months ..n more drama..pls… anway…. pls update asap
