Resolutions- Chapter 3
“North Carolina? Are you out of your mind?” Bette adjusted her headset and swiveled in her office chair to look out the window. “Haven’t you ever watched Deliverance?”
“I’m pretty sure that was set in either Tennessee or Georgia,” Alice responded evasively. “Besides, if you’d seen the choices, I think you’d have made the same decision.”
“I’m listening.”
“Well, there was Camp Yesteryear for starters. It’s relatively local– Oregon.”
“Sounds like a camp for geezers,” Bette wrinkled her nose.
“I know, right?” Alice got out of her car and started across the parking lot, gesturing with her free hand as she talked. “Then there was L.A.B. Camp.”
“Lab Camp? For techy types?”
“You’d think…but no, L.A.B. stands for Leaving Adulthood Behind.” Alice shook her head. “Where do these people get these lame marketing schemes?” A persistent buzzing alerted Alice of an incoming call. She glanced at the screen. “Bette, hang on, Max is on the other line.”
Before Bette could react, Alice placed her on hold and switched to Max. “Hey! What’s up?”
“Hey, Boss. Were you serious about that camp in North Carolina?”
“Will you stop calling me that? And yes. Why?”
“I just did a little research on the area. Asheville doesn’t sound so bad. I think you can work in some other business there as well as your story on camp for adults. There’s like this whole bohemian community there that might be really interested in thechart.com. Can I arrange something?”
Meanwhile, James popped his head in Bette’s office and mouthed, “Tina, line two.” Bette nodded and put Alice on hold. “Hey T.”
“Have you seen Alice’s e-mail?”
“You mean the one about sacrificing us to the Southern rednecks?”
“That’s the one. And, don’t you think that’s just a bit of an overreaction?” Tina laughed. “After all, it’s 2007….and Asheville is actually a pretty funky little arts town…I think you might be surprised at the galleries there. In fact, I was just calling to tell you about a show going on there during our ‘camp vacation’…I thought you might be interested.”
Bette smiled. It was definitely nice being on friendly terms with Tina….too often they’d been at odds with one another the past two years.

2 months before they see each other again? Sandy could make a move or two by then. Of course, that just heightens the drama, and make for good reading, and… Well, Gold, I sincerely hope it won’t take you two months to post again. Cheers.
Hi Gold, yep, Blue beat me to it–the thought of Lara and Sandy creating tension for a Lara and Alice Meeting-o-Rama: oh yeah baby, bring it on. Two whole months? Oh man…so much potential for tension (or time leap) there, which we all know -may- lead to even more satisfying resolutions (hehehe…). You keep me guessing as to where you are going, which of course creates the crack-like addictive effect of your marvy fics. I fully admit to checking back to see if you’ve updated and doing the happy dance when I see you have. And I love the imagery of Lara’s incident on her bike, but since she’s in good shape, she’ll snap out of it (with the help of an admirer that isn’t Alice? Ohhhh…don’t get in too deep, Lara…) I will be out of town for a spell coming up here, and away from internet access, so I look forward to being able to comment in the not TOO distant future. Meanwhile, your readership awaits;) Keep it up and as always, I can’t wait to see where you are taking our gals…and us. Please post soooooon!
Two months. Eight 1/2 weeks. Sixty days. I can see Sandy reeling Lara in, bit by bit, over the course of that time. Hopefully, Lara’s resistant to the bait. I am completely intrigued to see how this is going to pan out once the girls get down there, I can tell it’s going to be ace. Loved the banter at the beginning of the chapter too, Gold. Thank you for the post.
morning! i´m slowly waking up this morning after my nightshift, found your new chapter and enjoyed it with my first latte ;-)i´m with you, my thoughts were the same at the scene at danas camp. was one of my favorit at the show…so, alice and the girls have to wait for two month?? that´s a long time, but there are also some things to do, for alice and lara, before they could see each other again.right? and mountainriding is not the only thing… once more, sorry for my english…please update soon;-)
I *love* the way this is all coming together – 2 months will give Lara and Sandy just enough time to get more flirty with each other, which means drama galore once Alice arrives! This was a great chapter, Gold – I thought the whole opening bit was terrific, with Alice blackmailing (or attempting to blackmail) her friends into coming to camp. She does have an awful lot of leverage on them all! I’m still looking forward to seeing how the gang makes out at camp… something tells me that Bette will be a natural at the mountain biking, whereas Alice will be smashing into more than one tree… And yes, you must include at least one shaving cream fight during their stay! Anyway, thanks for the great update – I look forward to the next!
okay…. 2months?? datz a long time be4 they getta see each other…. hopefully lara stil hv feeling for alice after 2 months ..n more drama..pls… anway…. pls update asap
