CHAPTER 73

　

Tina was really struggling to get her head around what Bette was telling  her. She had been thinking a lot about the possibility of seeing her parents again after the shock encounter with her sister.

“Did you really like him ?”

Bette sighed and touched Tina’s face

“I wanted to hate him for what he did to you. I think the old me would have totally loathed him regardless of what he said or did. I hope that I am a more considered person now and “ Bette sighed “I know what its like to hurt you and let you down “

“What else did he say ?”

“He said he had let his family down and he was trying to make it up to his wife- he said she’s a wonderful woman.  He was talking about you  – saying that you were sweet. He called you a happy and popular child. So I said that the little girl he was describing was the same woman  that I was now luck enough to be with. I said that I was very lucky to be with you “

Tina smiled through  her tears “Thank you “

“He said that he would tell your mom what I had said about you “

“Oh –  that is really nice “

“He is glad that it hasn’t turned you into someone angry and bitter which he would understand given how they treated you “

“Oh God “ Tina started crying again. Bette pulled her close again and hugged her.

“Its okay “

Bette couldn’t imagine how hard this must be for Tina – it had taken her a few weeks to start coming to terms with seeing her hideous sister again and then there had been Bette revealing that her father was free and living relatively close to New York and the whole of the PI’s file on Tina’s parents. And now there was this revelation. Bette knew that Tina was a lot stronger than she had given her credit for when they had been a couple in LA but there was only so many body blows that one person could take.

After a few minutes Tina eased away
