    New York Minute -chapter 65

Tina nodded – she looked up at Bette “ I think I am okay with this ”

    “Sure ?”

“I don’t think I am that shocked  – she always was prone to more tantrums than I think I ever was. She liked to get her own way and she tended to get it. She was also in my shadow as I have said before. I was top of my classes – I was sporty and I was popular. She was much younger than me but the grades she was getting in her classes were way worse than what I managed. She was indulged by my parents – but I don’t think it took away that she was never going to be as academic or sporty as me”

“And she was the sister who got left behind when all the attention was on you and she was — well in her eyes — robbed of her father when she needed him “

    Tina nodded “Yeah “

Tina moved the mouse and went back to looking at the pictures of her parents.

Bette kissed her cheek “ They look good people “ she said

Tina smiled through the tears that were trickling down her face

    “They are “

“If you want to get in touch with them “ Bette suggested

“No “ Tina said shaking her head “I don’t want to “

    “okay “

Tina touched Bette’s face “Thank you for finding out about them -I did need to know what had happened to them – they are my parents regardless of everything. But – no –  they abandoned me and they blamed me for something that happens to hundreds of young girls – they get pregnant by accident. Other parents support their daughters, they suggest adoption or whatever – they arrange for them to have abortions. Do you know who was with me when I had my abortion ?”

Bette shook her head “No one – I was alone. I took the bus to the clinic and I checked myself in and I lay there while they took my baby away from me. Then we I was well enough to get up I got a cab home and I went to bed and cried myself to sleep for about a week. I just stayed in my apartment and I didn’t tell another soul what I had done. No one held me – no one made me a drink and no one was there to take away the pain and the feeling of guilt that I had”

    1. I am so glad that Bette was ther for Tina when she found out about her parents and sister, it was kinda funny when Bette told Tina she sees were she got her looks from, regarding her Mother. Tina did the right thing in not taking that drink. I can’t wait for the wedding.

    2. Good shoot! I miss this story so much!!! Bette is in her better way now, she can handle things with more strength but so quietly, that’s great. Can’t wait for next update.

    3. It’s so sad to think of Bette’s life before Tina and Angie came into it. I’m so glad they found each other again.I’m a little concerned about Tina’s sister’s past record with a knife….doesn’t sound too good.

    4. Thanks for the update Ally!! :-) … And good luck with the heater installment, I think rocky will be fine once he enjoys the benefit of the new thing at Ally’s place :-)
