All I Have To Give: Chapter 2

    Chapter 2

Tina put the last of the banners up and stood back to look at them. She was still waiting to hear from Cameron. She hated the fact that he wasn’t at home. Today was a big family day, her wife was 60 years old. She just wanted her son back, especially because he’d never miss a birthday ever.

Suddenly she heard the door bang. She knew that Bette, Angie, AJ and Ellie were at the Planet enjoying breakfast, so it had to be…

Tina ran back into the house through the French windows. Cameron was standing in the kitchen with his bag at his feet, looking deeply upset.

                "Hey son," Tina said.

"Hi Mom," he said in such a small voice that wavered as if he were about to break into tears.

"You okay?" Tina said leaning on the kitchen counter.

                "Yes, erm Mom, I’m sorry."

"Your momma B went to far too Cam. She loves you but you can’t keep doing this." Tina’s voice was calm. She really wanted him to stay but she knew Cam needed to learn his lesson.

"I know, you both do. I keep screwing up," Cameron said. "It was just so…"

    "Horrible?" Tina finished.

Cameron nodded sadly. "I was going from shelter to shelter and I saw so many people younger than me begging on the streets and I’m just, I’m just sooooo hungry!"

"Aww baby!" Tina cried running up to her boy and giving him a firm hug. The usually reserved boy broke into tears and hugged his mother firmly.

"Please don’t tell anyone I was crying," Cam said.

Tina chuckled then said, "okay. Why don’t you shower while I make you some grilled cheese."

"So um," Cameron looked at his mother, "Can I stay?"

"Of course son. But later on you will have to talk to Momma B."

"Okay Mom," Cameron went upstairs slowly. Tina watched him, glad he was back in the house.

The front door opened again and the whole family came into the house. It had been so quiet and now it was noisy. Tina smiled as Ellie and Benji– Alice and Dana’s son–came running through the house and straight outside.

    1. A little touch of tough love can go a long way with some teenagers. Seems like Cam received an early education about how fortunate he really is in life. Thanks for the posting. Hopefully Bette will go a little easier on him and they will have a good conversation when the time comes.

    2. I hope Cam learned a lesson while he was out in the real world and that he and Bette can have a productive conversation now that he is home. Also, hope Bette learned a lesson too!
