    Alice, Chapter 10

After taking Dana to her car at the Planet and agreeing to pick her up at her hotel in an hour, I head back home. Tina isnt home yet. She must be having one ***** of a conversation with BetteI hope its leaning toward the good side. I decide to change into a pair of antiqued blue jeans and a loose-fitting, sheer, button-up, white shirt. I slip on a pair of black boots and walk to the living room. Noticing Tina still isnt back, I decide to leave her a note. Just as I pick up the pen and write her name, she comes bounding in the door.

I was just writing you a note, I tell her, Im going out with the others. I dont think shes up to going out with us yet. Ill be home late so dont wait up.

Where are you off to? she inquires. Shes in an extremely good mood.

Milk, I tell her. Things must have gone well for you to be in such a good mood. Are you just here for your stuff, I ask suggestively.

Quite the contraryIve decided to move on. Do you mind if I join you? It wont take me long to change. Quite the contrary? Decided to move on? What happened today?

Sure, that would be great, I answer hesitantly, but how did things go with Bette?

Oh, II didnt talk to her.

Okay, now I really need to know whats going on. Go get readyI just need to make a phone call.

Okay, just give me five minutes.

Take your time. I tell her, hoping to speak with Bette before she returns.

What am I going to ask Bette? Tina said she didnt even speak with her. If thats the case Bette probably wont know whats going on. After arguing with myself for a few minutes, I decide to go ahead and call Bette. I pick up the phone and quickly dial the number. Damn answering machine.

Bette. Where are you? Its Alice. I need to talk to you about Tina. Listen, well be at Milk later. Call my cell phone or come by the club. I really need to find out whats going on. Okay? Bye. I hang up the phone just before Tina enters the room.
