A Second Chance at Forever
Story written on September 24, 2012 by justkeepswimming.
"I’ve been recently reminded."
"There’s a chilled avocado soup for lunch," Bette said, veering the course of the conversation decidedly off topic.
"I love this domestic streak you’ve demonstrated lately," Tina said. "It’s great to feel so…taken care of."
"Oh, I’ll be taking care of you this afternoon," Bette said. "No doubt about that."
Topic rediscovered.
************
"Hi sweetie," Bette greeted Angie as she strolled in from her day at school.
"Hi, Mom," Angie replied. "Is Mommy here yet?"
"She’s reading in the back yard," Bette said. "I had some work to do. Is there anything you need?"
Angie joined her at the dining room table.
"It’s finally Friday tomorrow," she observed. "I can’t wait to tell everyone."
"So far, so good though, right?" Bette asked.
"Yeah, it’s good," she said. "But I’m glad Auntie Kit’s coming over. I don’t have to be so careful."
"You don’t have to be careful around us either," Bette reminded her.
They both turned towards the sound of the patio door opening.
"I thought you might be home," Tina said, coming over for a hug. "It’s so nice to see you all the time."
"Hi Mommy," Angie replied. "When’s Auntie Kit going to be here?"
"Probably by five," Bette answered Angie’s question, glancing up at the wall clock. "School was good today?"
"Fine."
"What kinds of ideas do you have for your talk?" Tina tried to ask a question that was less likely to result in a one word answer.
"I think I’m going to talk to Auntie about it when she gets here," Angie said, getting up from the table. She went on to assure them. "I’ll talk to you too, but I’m going to start with Auntie."
"Okay sweetie," Tina said. "Do you have some homework to finish up before she gets here?"
"Won’t take me long," Angie replied. She picked up her bag and took a detour by Tina. "Glad you’re here Mommy."
"I’m glad I’m here too," Tina replied as they shared another hug.
"She seems so sensitive," Bette said after Angie was out of ear shot.

That was so sweet! Excellent story, jks. I thoroughly enjoyed it, I’m really pleased you came back and I hope you have another some time soon. Thank you! :)
“And that’s how you keep a secret” LOL wonderful ending and i hope you’ll come back with more stories
🐠 just keep writing 😉 and posting. Don’t care about what they think. I love it and so the other readers who will leave their comments after us. Thank you 😘
Please do not let one or two people stop you from writting. This was a wonderful and loving story thank you so much for it. Just love Angie!!! Thank you again and PPS
Sorry to see this story end! Hope you have another up your sleeve. I enjoyed this story very much, and I suspect those people who interfere with the rating haven’t even read the story, they just don’t like Tibette. So as you suggest, they don’t have to read it. They should just grow up.
It’s your level of writing that keeps us reading! Thanx for that! Keep ’em coming!!!
Thanks for the awesome story about our favorite couple. To those who don’t like them then don’t read the stories. For me, they give me hope and faith that as humans we can do what’s right and do better for each other. Second chances are deserved if growth has been made from the mistakes of the past.
That was awesome. I sit here with a smile on my face and having an “Aaawww” moment. Thanks JKS for the story and I look forward to more.
Loved the story and keep writing stories 😄
i am also sorry to see this story end… loved every word and esp loved the ending… thank you for the time and energy you put inot this story… hoping you come back with another… maybe a little brother or sister for angie… :)… thanks again
I love your stories …
Wow! Awesome story! I was totally surprised by the ending. I loved this story and think you’re one of the best writers on this site. Please don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I hope you continue to write and bring us another story soon. I’ll be here waiting to read it. Thanks JKS!! :)
What a great story!!
Fantastic chapter. Love this story Swimmie and really hate to see it end. Don’t worry about naysayers and low- raters, they’ll go away. Just keep writing and the rest of us will keep reading. Really liked the ending, just wish it wasn’t. Thanks for the time devoted to writing a loving and sweet story about “our girls” and little Angie. And I’m happy they kept it to themselves until the end. Don’t know if your brain is tired or what but it would be lovely to get an epilogue or a sequel, or just another story period. Take a rest and take care of yourself and family. Thanks for sharing.
I hope to see another story from you soon! The flow of your stories is always truly magical. Speaking of those who have nothing better to do than “diss” stories while hiding behind their keyboards… what to say!? Obviously in some demented, warped, childish way it makes them feel more secure by “shooting” stars off of other authors. Here’s an idea for those people – You write the story and then have some immature aholes without the balls to write comments screw with your story!
Sheez, some people’s kids… BEHAVE would ya? Hey ya Swimmie! I for one enjoyed your story (my first JKS experience) immensely and you have become one of my “new faves”. I appreciate your take on the challenges T&B would face in exploring and giving each other a second chance. It would have been easy to romanticize their journey – the fact that you gave a dose of reality to it, and wrote it so well and convincingly, speaks to your talents as a writer. I want to second Dainty’s request AND Jaciee1’s rating. Thanks so much for sharing your time and talent and I hope to “see” you more often :) Your new fan -iHH.
a real family. Here at Mom’s house. With a pool – LOL, kids gotta have priorities ;-) … thanks for writing it!
Thanks JKS for amazing and sweet story!! 😊👍👍👍 it’s an ending that I wish not being posted this soon ;-) as I hope there will be more chapters in between :-p … But maybe this can be meant that you can work on the next installment?!? ;-) hehehe… Pardon my greediness :-p but still… In conclusion: brava!!! 👏😁👏😊👏😄
A typo in the summary it seems… shouldn’t it read ‘There’s more’? Thanks, please write when you can.
It’s always sad for me when a wonderfully written story comes to an end. Though I am in agreement with lodeerca. I think a certain “shower” chapter is missing! You are a terrific writer. I always enjoy your storylines. I will look forward to reading anything you post, cause I know it will be a fantastic read. I hope you already have a new story in the works for us. Thank you for sharing your talent!
Wonderful! How about a TB beginning story? And another thing: a chapter was missing again-the one in the shower.
Thanks for this wonderful story. Please continue writing, you have so many fans here who are thrilled that you started writing again.

Thank you for this happy reconnection story! I love that they get to be together every day as a family in this story. I have really enjoyed this! Please think about coming back with another story soon.
Great story from a special writer 10 stars

I loved your story. I’m so glad you decided to write again for us. Hope to see another story again soon. Thanks!
Awww a sweet story in time for a sweet New Year! Thanks for taking the time to write this tale!
Thank you for this story,I hope you have more for us.
What a lovely ending to a delightful, well-written story. BRAVA, jks! =) I’m a sucker for hopeful stories or endings and this one definitely fits the bill. I love your version of Angie to bits. She seems wise beyond her years but deep inside she’s still a little girl who must have been shocked and overjoyed by her divorced parents’ reunion. I was touched by the tremble of her voice during her heartwarming “speech”. It reminded me of the quiver in her voice when she expressed her fear that one of her parents might be going away. I guess Dana wanted to spare Angie from hearing her moms’ nighttime cries, thus the sleepover. ;> Thanks a lot for writing and sharing this lovely story, jks! Hope your muse will keep you inspired to write and share again someday soon. I wish you and your loved ones more love, joy, good health and blessings. Cheers, jks! =)
Beautiful just loved it!..
I’m not crying – you’re crying. I’m hoping to get a version of this in the new show even thought Angie is much older. This was a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing it.
TIMELESS!!! IMPECCABLE!!! THE STORY, THE PLOT, THE NARRATION — EVERYTHING IS PERFECT!!! I CAN’T EVEN!!!
