No Longer Roommates, But Mates. – (Chapter: Make Way for The Married Life!)
No Longer Roommates, But Mates
Ch.1
Spencer’s POV:
“I’m DONE! DONE!!!” I cheered, hugging Ashley. “It’s official: I am a doctor.” I grinned at her from ear to ear. “Congrats. SWEET! No more having to wait for you till like 4 or 5 in the morning to come to bed no more having to steal you away from your textbooks.” she replied, giving me a soft kiss on the nose. “We’re very proud of you, Spencer.” My dad said, smiling brightly at me. My mother was scowling slightly from having witnessed some P.D.A. between me and Ashley. “I’m happy you’ve done it, Spence. I’m proud of you, even if I’m not proud at some of your other decisions in life.” I frowned at her. “Mom, can we please not fight? At least not on a happy day like this?” I gripped Ashley’s hand and looked at her. Ashley narrowed her eyes in annoyance at my mother.
“We’re throwing a party for you this weekend, so don’t forget!” my dad said. “Aww thanks Dad! Thanks…Mom.” I said, hugging them. “Don’t just thank us; thank Ashley for planning it all out!” my dad said, beaming. I smiled at Ashley and jumped into her arms. She caught me and twirled me around, making me laugh the entire time as I saw the goofy grin on her face. “We’ll see you later this weekend, Spencer, Ashley.” my dad said, looking at his watch. “Thanks for being here!” I yelled as they walked over to the parking lot.
Being a doctor may look fun, but becoming one is hell. I thought I would die or at least change my major and face the wrath of my evil mother – when I realized it’d take about 10 years to become a doctor. Thankfully, I got myself through advanced courses and cut the time down to oh, around 7 years. I’m turning 25 in a couple of months. Hey, better than being almost 30 when I graduated! “Ash, where are we going? You’re dragging me around like a crazy person!” I said, laughing. She dragged me over to her car and drove us off, without telling me where we were going. “Ash?” I asked, looking at her curiously. “You’ll see.” She promised. “The beach?” I asked uncertainly. “Come with me.” She beckoned, taking my hand and running towards the pier. “Why are we running?” I asked. She led me to a spot right by the piers. The sun was just going down, and the entire sky was painted in various hues of yellow, pink, and splotches of purple. You could see the sun’s grand reflection in the water as it descended. “Do you remember this place?” she asked breathlessly.
