    Mario’s – (Chapter: The Walk)

    “So…”

    “So…”

We’ve been walking for about five minutes now and that was the most we said to each other.

“So how long have you been working at Mario’s?”

“Um like a year and three months.”

“Wow that’s a long time. I’ve never worked anywhere that long.”

I take this time to look at her and see she’s looking right at me waiting on me to say something but I don’t. She’s turns and continues walking. I couple of minutes go by and I guess she doesn’t like the silence. “So you work a lot is that because you like it?”

Ok the girl is pushing it. Why in the hell can’t she see I don’t won’t to start a conversation?

    “Yeah.”

“So you like skilled at almost everything, right?”

    “Yeah”

“You’re not really articulate are you.” She doesn’t say it as a question but more like a fact. But I respond any way hoping she’ll get the picture.

    “No.”

That did the trick she’s quiet now. I look over and she’s looking down playing with her hands and her smile that’s been on her face since the beginning of this walk is now gone. Damn, I didn’t want to hurt her feelings or anything. I mean I like her she’s nice but I just don’t want to talk.

It’s been two minutes and she hasn’t said a word or looked at me. For some reason it’s bothering me and I’m kind of hoping she smiles at me again. Nope another minute goes by nothing. I think I’m going to try in get her back talking.

“Do you like it at Mario’s?”

She just looks at me with a blank stare and whispers a quiet yes. Guess I’ll try again.

“How about Taylor, you guys getting alone?”

I see her stop next to me so I stop stepping back to be beside her. She turns to me and we lock eyes.

“What is this Ashley? I try to have a little conversation with you and you cut me down with short answers.” Where the hell did that come from, wait she’s saying something else. “And now you want to get all talkative? Just for get it lets keep on walking.” And that’s exactly what she does turns around and walks with out giving me a second look.

I think she’s mad me. What do you think? Yeah she’s mad.

I ran to catch up with her and grabbed her elbow to stop her and turn her around to face me. When she did she looked pissed.

“Look, I’m sorry.” She just stares back at me. “I’m just not in the mood to have a conversation.”

“It seems like you never are.”

What the hell is this girl’s problem?

“What! Wait you don’t even no me.” She’s making me made now.

“I know, but it’s not like I haven’t tried to get to.”

“This is the first time we even talked since you started working at Mario’s. So no. You haven’t tried.”

“Yes, I have. In the break room, when I asked you what you were watching. That was a one of the many times I’ve tried and  just like tonight you gave me those damn short answers you like so much.”

Ok she got me there. I remember that day it was a couple of weeks ago she came in the room while I was watching… Shit I can’t remember what I was watching. To tell you the truth I wasn’t really paying attention I was to busy trying to sneak a peck at her when she wasn’t looking.  It’s seems since we met I’m always trying to sneak a peck. I’m mean I like her, I know that but I usually don’t act this way around a girl or even get attached. I usual get what I want and then forget them but with her it’s different. It’s like I’m always unsure around her. But anyway back to the break room accident she is referring to. She asked me what I was watching and some other stuff and I shrugged her off with my usual I’m not sure, I don’t know and yeah. Yup those damn short answers she’s talking about. Then I got up and went back to work. I’m not a mean person but I’m not a social one either. I defiantly don’t want her to think that I don’t like her but I’m too stupid to talk to her. Now how do I make this better?
