Spencer’s POV

I left the clipboard laying on the ground and walked solemnly back to Madison and Kyla, who looked better than when I walked away.

“When did she get back, Ky?” I asked softly.

“She, uh, she isn’t actually back yet. All I know is my mom said she got a phone call earlier that day and that Ashley was coming home. She said she’s coming straight here from the airport to make sure she doesn’t try to pull anything. God! This is so unfair you guys! She shouldn’t be able to just walk back into our lives after everything,” she said trying to hold back tears.

I nodded my head in complete understanding as I sat down next to her.

“I know exactly what you mean, Ky,” I said as I put my arm around her and pulled her to me. She sniffled and lay her head on my shoulder.

“Yeah chica, we’re all upset about it and pretty much feel the same way. As far as I’m concerned, I hope her plane crashes and she’s the only casualty.”

“Mads!” I scolded.

“What? Karma can be bitch!” she giggled as she lay her head on Kyla’s shoulder. We all giggled at Madison being… well Madison. I’m not sure if that’s actually why we were laughing or if it we were laughing so we wouldn’t cry. Reality soon kicked in and we sat there contemplating how the day’s events would turn out.

“Jesus, who died?” an amused male voice inquired.

“Hey Aiden,” we all said solemnly in unison. Aiden Dennison wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box, but he had a heart of gold and was a great friend. I’m amazed he’s still such a sweet guy after the number Ashley pulled on him before he left. She left him broken hearted and humiliated.

“Oh my God, seriously… who died? You guys look like the poster children for Emo Kids Anonymous,” he chuckled.

“Shut up, stupida! Laugh while you can because by the end of the day you won’t be!” Madison snapped.

“Madison, calm down please. He obviously doesn’t know yet,” I tried to reason. But Madison, being herself, scoffed and rolled her eyes.

“Don’t know what? What are you guys talking about?”
