    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 7-Confrontation)

    A Vampire’s Lament
    Chapter 7: Confrontation

"Here’s your introduction to destruction & the hate sustaining me!
Are we safer or in danger?"
    -Otep

I was sleeping comfortably on my bed until I felt stirring beside me. It was unusually bright at night until I found familiar sun rays entering the cracks of my windows. Realization reminded me that mortals normally sleep at night and wake at dawn; the opposite for my kind unfortunately.

I shift on the bed to see if Spencer was really waking this time but it was a false alarm. She was now on her back, her lifeless body finding the best comfort on my bed.

Spencer was so adorable when she slept and her calm breathing was music to my ears. I had just gone to bed at 7 A.M. and that was two hours ago I think. To my despair, the gorgeous girl beside me was waking and this was really bad timing too.

She had been sleeping since she fainted in our arms last night and that seemed like it was forever ago. Her arms explored the comfortable space that surrounded the bed as her back arched perfectly in front of my eyes. She turned her head away from me but I could see her eyelids open and close a few times before she spoke.

"Woah, where am I?" She asks with full alarm rising in her voice. I had to roll my eyes because I was supposed to be sleeping. After last night’s humiliating yet profound experience, my energy had been exhausted. The both of us sat up at the same time and finally noticing my presence, she gasped as she raised the blanket up to cover her chest.

"Spencer, " I began groggily, "It’s not what it looks like. Erm, well it is what it looks like but I swear on my soul I didn’t molest you or anything while you were out."

She was unsure of me for a second before releasing her panic. Spencer was utterly bemused it seemed. "Oh…well, how the hell did I get here? What happened after I passed out?" She asked, scooting closer to me. My eyelids were increasingly heavy but I forced myself to stay awake.
