    • Pearlie, unfortunately almost no one was using the forums, as you likely noticed. You were the most active member, and most of the topics were literally YEARS old.

      Also, the forum software was causing serioius problems for every server we were on. Those two issues have the forum ON HOLD.

      I may be able to re-activate it once we finish some other items that will hopefully reduce server load.

      I’d like to switch forum software, but it will cost about $800 to pay a company to move all the site members (about 70,000!) and all the topics. I don’t have the money to pay for that. I’m so sorry.

  2. Pearlie, I have had similar thoughts about the new LesFan and all the convention info and ads, too. I realize these are a result of Jacky seeking a revenue stream since her costs to keep the site up and rolling are expensive.

    However, I had the thought yesterday that this is a fanfiction site and the stories that I post under Command for my L Word inspired #espionage series titled, “WET WORK,” to my two L Word inspired series written under Blackbird that follow in one, “WeHo: Behind the Scenes,” the OFF screen moments that I imagined for our characters that flow just under the ON AIR series, to my vision of The L Word Season 7 in my series titled, “Touch Tones,” that the space that writers are given has been cramped and squeezed. A story of approximately 400o words – my usual length for a great 7 minute of a reader’s time – translates to them going through many clicks and waits and more ads.

    It would follow logically then that a fanfiction site would feature it’s stories at the top of the page, and give them more breathing room on their specific content pages, wouldn’t it? And the convention news that is a part of our fun, entertainment, and culture, would be around the stories, not above them.

    I don’t know your phrase “soft-core fiction,”but that doesn’t matter really – my ignorance, no doubt, however; I did understand the essence of your question and agree, “What has happened?” And as the Bette Porter in my stories likes to ask anyone she’s bearing down upon someone with great intensity, “What has happened, exactly? And what can be done about it, exactly?”

    • I’m not sure what your point is about “convention info”? What’s that about?

      I wish we didn’t have to have *any* ads.
      I wish I had hit that giant powerball last month.
      But the reality is, there are huge bills to keep this site online, including ongoing development.

      I’ll see if I can get those ads at the top of the page moved from the top. I don’t like them there, either. I had already removed an ad that was in the right hand column about a week or more ago. I can’t really cut back much more. I can try my best to get things moved around, though. Please note that every time I make a change – including moving ad locations – I have a bill to pay. I am not sure if people realize that there is a bill to be paid for every thing that happens, including moving an ad location.

      • When we added those ads at the top of the page, I also had the image ads under “From the Web” reduced from 2 rows of 4 to 1 row of 4. So, we reduced two major ad spots about 1 – 2 weeks ago.
