Laurel Holloman’s First Solo Art Show – Paris, April 3-21

March 20, 2012 By btf 5 Comments

Even though her schedule is really busy right now, Laurel was kind enough to answer a few questions for l-word.com about her upcoming show, her passion for painting and what’s going to happen to her acting career.

L-word: Could you tell a little about the upcoming art show? Why is it set in Paris?

Laurel Holloman: The Pantheon Show was by invitation after I showed them my portfolio last winter. It is an exhibition in a government building that features rising artists and usually they insist on a two year exhibition history, which was waived based on my portfolio. I was offered other shows in the US but this seemed the way to go. Also, I have been offered two month solo show in Venezia (Venice), Italy. I am mostly focused on Europe and building a proper exhibition history than showing in US, although I may do something small in Venice, CA at some point.

L-word: How many paintings are you exhibiting? Are any of them for sale or just for showing before they go to their final destination?

LH: Six of the paintings are already owned. Many will travel to Venezia after Paris. The show is an exhibition, but I can sale privately after if I want. There are now 18 paintings, but since we are curating on site, one or two paintings maybe saved for Venezia.

L-word: Tell me a little more about the paintings that will be in that art show. Which one was the most challenging to paint and why? Will they appear on your Art Studio Website?

LH: My studio site is changing as we speak and hopefully be up around the time of Paris show. I am the proudest of Red Rain and It’s You, It’s All For You. I felt like I was reaching out of my style and growing as an artist and it is evident in those works. In some ways I find it ridiculous to talk too much about a painting because I think that influences it too much, but I can say I feel the show is strong for a first solo show and it felt like a break through happened for me while I prepared for the show. I was stuck at first, honestly.

Love the story…glad that Laurel is happy immersed in her art, but sad to hear she doesn’t want to act anymore…as fans it will be our loss if she doesn’t return to acting. Hope that the Paris exhibition is a big success for her and that the Paris paintings will be available in print form on her studio website. She is amazing and clearly these latest paintings show an artist coming into her own. Congrats, Laurel..vous etes formidable!!!

Laurel, please do not leave the cinema, you’re an amazing actress, and no less talented artist. The world of cinema will be boring and dull without you. You just do not have the right to take away our opportunity to look at you, your left eyebrow raised, your shining eyes, your peculiar gait, you are one of the world …
