L-word: So, Lip Service. I know you can’t reveal any spoilers about second season but I do have a few questions. It was basically a cast reunion since you all have families and careers. Do you have any stories to share when the cast first got together?
HP: Not really. We are all good pals and we all keep in touch. We got together for the reading and it was like we’ve never been away. There’s not very many of us as well and we are good friends. There is not any egos, which is a blessing really. We just got down to storytelling, that’s it. None of the girls are big drinkers. It is only me that likes to drink really, so I’m more well-behaved on that show than I am on anything else. We just tend to go for Italian meals and chill out. We really are quite well-behaved. There’s no rock-n-roll about it at all. All the girls there want to tell the story and are happy to be on the show.
L-word: Did you have any fun on the set while filming this season?
HP: I didn’t have any fun this year. I can’t tell you why but a lot of stuff I was filming on my own. I didn’t have many chances this time on set to piss around because I had to stay in a zone and it’s the most challenging acting experience I’ve ever had in fifteen years. This series, and where Sam goes, and how dark it gets for her. I’ll be really honest with you, there wasn’t any messing around. I couldn’t because the minute you bring yourself out of that, it’s very, very hard to get back to that place when you are going for another take.
I loved the first series. I loved the second series because it’s more challenging as an actor but I loved the first series because it was just all about love and laughter, and I just had a great time. I didn’t have a particularly good time on the second series from a personal point of view just because it was hard. It was hard but challenging and brilliantly written. I’m sure you’ll see the result and hopefully it’s paid off. Sometimes you have to put yourself through stuff to really understand and grasp the role.
L-word: As an actor, are you satisfied with your storyline on the second season?
HP: Absolutely. I think it was handled absolutely amazingly well.
L-word: You mentioned during Q&A’s that the series ended with cliffhanger. Do you think that fans of Sam will like the ending?
HP: Yeah, for Sam.
