Everyone is at Bette and Tina’s house.

Shane: We can’t, we told her that we wouldn’t.

Bette: Shane I know that we told her we would send her to a hospital but it has been a week and she doesn’t look any better. I mean you are the one that weighs her like every day. What has she gained a pound?

Tina: Bette, Shane is jsut saying that we promised her we wouldn’t. We can’t go behind her back and make arrangments for her to be put into care.

Shane: She would never forgive us.

Bette: Do you want hedr to get worse then she is? Do you want her to die?

Shane: Of course not, but…

Bette: But nothing. If we don’t do anything then Alice is just going to get worse and then at worst she will die. We can’t do enough to help her right now. We all have work. We have lives.

Tina: Alice is part of our lives. I have to side with Shane on this one.

Bette: You guys don’t know what I went through with her last time. This is only the beginning. Right now she is edgy with us when all of us are watching her eat. Imagine having to feed her every bite of her food to make sure that she ate it all. That is what I had to do last time. I listened to her last time. I didn’t make her go anywhere. I quit my job at my own art gallery to watch after her and make sure that she was safe. i don’t want to have to go through that again.

Bette was tearing up.

Bette: It is ***** watching someone you love wither away to nothing. I wouldn’t want to see any of you go through this.

Bette got up and walked into her bedroom before she broke down completly leaving Shane and Tina sitting on the couch. Shane looked over at Tina.

Shane: What are we going to do. No matter what we do we hurt one of our friends. And you know that Dana is not going to want to send Alice to some place that she doesn’t want to go.

Tina: I don’t know. I’m completly in the dark here. Bette is the only one that has gone through this. Her and Alice. I don’t know what this is going to put our little group through. but I do have to go see if Bette is okay.

Shane: Yeah go. Is it cool if I crash on the couch tonight?

Tina: Yeah thats fine there are some blankets in the closet.

When Tina walked into her bedroom Bette was already in bed. Tina slid in next to her and put an arm around her.

Bette: What are we going to do? This is going to tear our group apart.

Tina: Do you know for sure that putting Alice in hospital care would be the best thing?

Bette rolled over looking Tina in the eyes.

Bette: If you saw everything that I went through last time then you would know that is is the best thing we can do. Its the only thing we can do.

Tina: Then I’m on you’re side. We will talk to Shane, Dana and Alice tomorrow.

The next morning Shane woke up and Bette and Tina were in the kitchen drinking coffee.

Tina: Theres some more coffee if you want it.

Shane: Sure, thanx.

Tina: Listen Shane Bette and I were talking last night and I agree with her. Bring Alcie to the hospital is the only thing that we can do for her. I know you prolly don’t…

Shane: No its fine. I heard what you guys said last night and I thought it over and I think you’re right. I guess that means that we should go over to Alice’s and tell her and Dana.

Tina and Bette: Yeah I guess its time.

At Alice’s

Knock Knock

This awoke Dana who was acting as Alice’s pillow on the couch. She went to answer the door.

Dana: Hey guys. A little early isn’t it?

By this time Alice had woken up.

Shane: We need to talk to th both of you. Do you mind if we come in.

Dana: Hey its not my house but sure. We were in the living room I’m sure Alice is just waking up. Go on in.

In the Living room

Alice: Hey guys have a seat.

Dana sat next to Alice where she was before. Shane sat on the floor Tina sat on the other side of Alice and Bette decided to stand. They decided on the way over here that Bette would tell her what they had decided.

Alice looked around knowing that something was up. She looked over at Dana seeing if she knew anything but she just shrugged her shoulders.

Alice: Okay guys whats going on?

Bette: Alice Dana, Shane, Tina and i were talking last night and…well we decided that it would be the best thing to do if we brought you to the hospital so that they can treat you in the right way.

Alice sat there shocked. Dana was about to spaz out when Alice stood up and went towards the door. Shane knew what she was doing so she got up to stop her.

Shane grabbed her by the arms.

Shane: Alice, you can’t run away. We want you to get better. I want you to be healthy. I want you to live.

Alice callapsed at Shane’s feet. Dana ran over to her and gathered her up in her arms.

Dana: What are you guys thinking? We can’t jsut abandon her in some hospital. It isn’t what she wants. We can help her. We can do this ourselves. We don’t need professionals to help us.

Bette: Dana you don’t know what I had to go through to help her myself last time.

Dana: I don’t care I’ll do whatever i have to I don’t want her going with strangers.

Bette: Dana, it’s to late we called the hospital to make the arrangments and they are sending a cab over.

Just then they heard a honking sound outside.

Dana: Now? You’re sending her away now?

Bette knelt down and took one of Dana’s hands and one of Alice’s.

Bette: The sooner that she gets help the sooner she can be back with us.

Alice: It’s okay Dana I knew that Bette was going to come to this conclusion sooner or later. I guess it just happend to be sooner.

Dana: Then I’ll come see you every day.

Bette: I’m sorry Dana but you can’t see her for at least a week. It is one of the rules that they have.

Dana broke down a little bit more.

Alice: Dana will you help me pack?

Dana and Alice went into Alice’s room. Everyone else sat on the couch. Tina hadn’t moved.

Tina: That was intense.

Shane looked over and realized that tina had been crying all this time. So she put an arm around her, to comfort her.

Shane: You can say that again.

A few seconds later Alice came back out of her room with a few bags. Dana wasn’t with her.

Alice: Dana and I said goodbye already. You may want to go check on her in a while, you know to make sure that she is okay.

Shane: Alice, you know that we did this for you’re own good right?

Alice: Of course Shane. I know that you guys love me. I just think that Dana has a little bit of a harder time understanding that, you know her being younger and all.

They all shared there hugs and Alice got into the cab and left.

Shane: I guess that I’ll go check on Dana. I’ll see you guys later.

Shane knocked on Alice’s bedroom door.

Shane: Dana?

Dana: Go away Shane.

Shane: I’m sorry I can’t do that. I care about you and I’m not going to leave until I know that you’re alright.

Dana: So you don’t care about Alice is that why you sent her way?

Shane entered the room and sat on the bed next to Dana.

Shane: Not at all. I care about her jsut as much as I care about any of you guys. If not more. I mean she was the one that found me and took me off of the streets. She saved my life and now I am trying to save hers. She needs real help. She needs more then we can give her.

Dana: I guess I just don’t understand.

Dana got up off the bed and left Shane alone in her thoughts. For the first time since she found out about Alice she cried. She was the final one to cry. She had to stay strong for the others. She was the support but now that she was alone she let it all go.

When she was about to leave she heard a car skreach it’s tires. And her mind flew to the only thing she could think of…Dana.
