    True love – Chapter 9

    Shane’s POV

There’s a knock on the door and I hope that it’s Carmen, but once again it isn’t her. I let out a sigh Alice can’t overhear.

“What a nice greeting, Shane.”, Alice said.

    “Sorry, Al.”, I giggled.

That’s all I manage to say. Of course I’m happy to see Alice, but I was hoping that Carmen would come. It’s been four days I’m stuck in this damn hospital now and she didn’t come to see me since the day after the accident.

“Hey, what are you thinking about?”, she asked me.

“Uh…nothing, how’s Tasha?”, I said, trying to change the subject.

“She’s fine…She sends you her regards. Hey, I know there’s something wrong with you. Come on, Shaney. What’s wrong?”

     “It’s Carmen…”, I said in a quiet desperate tone.

“Oh, I see…”, she said looking at me.

“Since I woke up the day after the accident she didn’t show up. I thought she cares about me. You know she was the only one who was there when I woke up and suddenly she disappears like nothing happened? I mean what the fuck, Al. I don’t get her.”, I said.

“What did you do when you talked to her ? Did you upset her?”, she wondered.

“No, no. I didn’t do anything… Actually I wanted to tell her that the accident and my dream made me realize how much I love her. But I couldn’t because you guys came in and interrupted me.”, I said innocently.

“Oh….oh….that’s why you had that angry look. Sorry, Shane. But I don’t know maybe she’s busy. I mean she’s been away for three month after what happened in Canada. Maybe she has a new job or something like that.”, she said.

“ Yeah, maybe…but she could have called me.”, I sighed.

Four fucking days have passed now. I’m sick of the same sight everyday. The plaster on my foot and the broken rips make walking almost impossible. Every day seems to be the same.

I wake up at 7 in the morning. Don’t get me wrong, I love sleeping, I really do. But I have to wake up because every morning I get an injection and breakfast. The injection makes sure that I won’t get thrombosis. Then I watch TV and at about 9 o’clock it’s either Kit, Alice or Helena who visit me at the morning. At 12 o’clock the nurse comes in again to bring me my lunch. I never eat it because first of all it tastes like somebody has puked on it and secondly I’m never hungry at that time anyway. The nurse always complains about it. Her name is Naomi. She has long dark blonde hair and green eyes. She reminds me of Ellen Pompeo, you know the actor who plays Meredith Grey in Grey’s Anatomy. After work she uses to visit me. We talk about everything and nothing. Most of the time she’s talking. I’m not a talkative person. I prefer listening. She told me that she always wanted to be a nurse because taking care of people makes her happy. I asked her if it wasn’t hard to see sick people every day and she told me that it is indeed hard, but she also works hard to change their situations. I admire her for her positive attitude.

    1. Yah, a new chapter! Thanks for posting. Things are looking up for Shane and Carmen…right? Right!? It’s a shame about Paige but you have to make Shane tell her it’s over. PPS.
