Shane’s POV

When I woke up I saw that Carmen must have unpacked my stuff. She left a note on the table, saying that she’s at the grocery store since there’s nothing in the fridge. I couldn’t believe how lovely she was. She’s not only hanging out with me, she also cooks, unpacks my stuff and shops. I didn’t know how to thank her.
Suddenly I heard a child screaming, I knew it had to be Angelica so I went next door. Bette opened up.

“Hey Shane. Come in. I just wanted to get into the pool with Angelica.”, Bette said.

I took a seat in the garden.

“So, how are you feeling?”, Bette asked.

“I’m cool. I got used to those crutches already. But I can’t wait to get back to work.”

While I was talking to Bette I had Angelica on my lap who put her hand on my mouth and I pretended to eat her hand by taking her fingers into my mouth. Her laugh was so adorable, I love kids because little things can make them happy and the give you the brightest smile. I had to think of Shay which made me a bit sad. Bette must have noticed that.

“Did you talk to your dad about Shay?”, she asked.

“No…not yet.”, I said.

“But you won’t give up, right?”, she wondered.

“No. Of course not. He’s my brother and my father is an ass. He can’t take care of Shay and I just love that kid, I don’t know what to do without him.”, I told her.

Bette nodded and took Angelica. They went into the pool and Angelica laughed and cried happily.

“So…what’s going on with Carmen?”, she asked.

I frowned and shrugged.

“Nothing, we’re just friends from now on. I think that’s the best thing we can do.”, I said.

“Really?”, she asked ironically looking at me.

I knew by the look of her that she didn’t believe me. But what should I tell her, it’s the truth.

“And what’s going on with Paige now?”, she asked.

“I don’t know. She wanted to give me the time to figure out what I want. I don’t know what I want, but I know that I don’t like her the way she likes me. I just…I don’t know how to tell her that I don’t want to be with her. She’s such a nice girl, I really don’t want to hurt her feelings.”, I said.
