    Chapter Seven

    Tina Kennard POV

“What part of busy doesn’t she understand? Am I speaking Chinese or what?” Tina yelled at her assistant. She knew she was giving Greg a way too hard time, but she couldn’t help it.

“Tina, please, it’s the fourteenth time she’s calling. Maybe you could tell her yourself.”

“Great. This is just great. Listen, Greg, I don’t know if you’ve noticed but we’re about to start shooting a new movie here that means a lot to the company. The last thing I need is some woman calling me all the time. How did she even get this number?”

Greg looked sad and went back to his desk, where he took the phone and said:

“I am sorry, Ms. Porter, but Ms Kennard is currently not present.”

Tina looked at him with eyes full of menace. Greg bit his lip, looked at Tina. He covered the speaker with his hand and said: “She say she’s no idiot, she could hear you shout.”

“Fine. Give it then,” Tina sighed. She had told Greg the truth: she didn’t need this, at all. She was doing her best to forget about Bette Porter.

Greg seemed relieved by Tina’s answer and gave her the phone.

“Listen, Bette, it was a mistake. I have hold myself because I knew about you and your girlfriend. You told me you had broken up, but that seemed to be a lie. I just hope you can understand that I don’t want to be involved with liars.”

“Tina, please! Cassie and I are over and done. You have no idea how hard this has been to me, Cas is just… well, she didn’t seem to understand that I’m through with her. I really like you, Tina, and I haven’t lied to you about anything.”

Altough she wouldn’t admit it, it pleased Tina to hear the desperate tone in Bettes voice.

“We need to talk,” Bette said, with a strange twist in her voice. It almost sounded like she was crying. It struck Tina, she knew Bette as a strong and independent woman (although she didn’t know her that well) and she couldn’t imagine her crying.

“There is nothing to be said.” Tina wasn’t gonna make this easy. “How did you get my number anyway?”

“I have my connections.” It was clear Bette didn’t want to say more. “But listen, we need to sort some things out.”

“I wouldn’t know why. I had a nice talk with you, we had a good, but short time. I don’t see why we need to talk. We can just move on, not see each other again. I hate to say this, but we weren’t even friends.”

“Is that really what you want?”

    “No.”

“I thought so. Are you free Wednesday?”

    “No.”

    “Thursday?”

“Maybe. I’m not sure yet, why?”

    “What about Friday?”

Tina sighed. The truth was that she was available both Wednesday and Thursday, but she didn’t feel like meeting Bette. She wanted to spare herself the pain.

“Yes, I’m free Friday. Why?” Tina gave in. She couldn’t believe she was actually doing this.

“I suggest you come over at my place. I’ll cook you dinner and than we can have a good talk, private.”

Tine chuckled at the image of Bette Porter cooking. She wondered if she had ever done such a thing as making dinner.

“Fine. I’ll be there by 7, is that allright?”

    “Uhm… what about 6?”

    “6.30.”

    “Can’t wait.”

    Bette Porter POV

Bette was extremely glad when Tina accepted her invitation. The second after the beautiful blonde had hung up, Bette cursed herself. She had done a suggestion without thinking about it. She had no cooking skills whatsoever, so how the hell would she be able to win Tina for her?

She took out her phone and dialled a number.

    1. I hope Bette finds Kit or someone to make her a scrumptious feast and doesn’t burn the house down. :) I am glad Bette convinced Tina to talk to her.

    2. So, let’s guess, Bette is calling Kit for cooking advise or maybe just to get her to do the cooking! Glad Tina decided to at least listen to what Bette has to say.

    3. Yeah,Bette did say that she would cook dinner for Tina. Tina will find out soon enough that Bette can burn water. Hope that they can work on their talking -to each other. Hope Kit can help her with the cooking
