Bette POV
Tina was here, she was in my arms. How did we get here? I must be dreaming; my mental faculties are on an early Spring vacation. It was barely March in fact, and strangely enough, the weather had cleared up and flowers were in full bloom. All the colors with which I could paint a rich canvas were back in my life. I could hardly feel the pain in my leg. Even people did not bother me like before … And did I mention that Tina was in my arms?
Some would call me mad, totally insane, for setting myself up for this kind of hurt, but I didn’t care. I had already fallen for Tina long ago—would it hurt less to never act on these feelings? Would the pain of living apart be less than the pain we would cause everyone by starting this supposedly ‘illicit’ relationship? Were we desecrating the purity of our love by embarking on this course? Was our love even true if it did not involve a great sacrifice? Strangely enough, these questions didn’t plague me. And I doubt that they plagued her.
It didn’t feel illicit or wrong for even a second. Yes, it felt right, as correct as the laws of physics. I no longer cared about the consequences of our actions, no longer dwelled about doing the ‘right’ thing for nothing could feel more right than this. I was convinced that our love was not just another affair—it was the only relationship that mattered, and everything else had to be an illusion.
For if this was wrong, why does the air feel clearer and purer than before? Why would the blue skies shower their approval on us with soft rays of light every morning? Why would the days seem brighter instead of longer; why would the short nights seem so long without her? Why were we so incomplete on our own and yet so complete together?
It was true love and it was right. We didn’t have a care for the world. Together, we dreamed up our own world—a world in which there was space for only Bette, only Tina. Only her and only me. And no one else but us.

Arrrrgh!!! When are they dumping the spouses?! I want TiBette together, now, so that they can take on whatever drama is thrown their way. Please, no more waiting!!!!!
This was so great I’m almost speechless, Maverick ! The witty banter between those two was absolutely delightful. I love the fact that no matter how desperate they are, they’re still capable of being silly and of having lighthearted conversations. I guess they just HAVE TO be together. Oh, and by the way, I completely agree with Kword, I watched the movie KANK too a few weeks ago and even though I enjoyed it I’m loving your story much much more. This is a very brilliant, not to mention very very smart “adaptation”, Maverick ! Kudos to you for a fabulous fanfic ! And of course thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent with us.

The banter between these two is kind of funny but they do need to see each other and get busy planning to get divorces so they can be together. Will Bette ever find out that Helena tried to have her killed and ruined her career? No Mav, didn’t get the chance to go to law school, life intervened. But love the law, and it is a fickle mistress. Hope our girls can get their thing together and move in together. PPS
Oh Mav – another brilliant installment of sharp banter and jest. This just leaves me wanting more, as always. These two play off each other so well. Thanks for making my day!
When will Bette and Tina find out that it was Helena who was behind trying to have Bette killed and ruining her career???? I know….I should just be patient! PPS
Oh, Mav what a killer ending! I’m still laughing and smiling. Bette so set Tina up for a sleepless night of wondering about their first time together. I hope it’s SOON, by the way! Very SOON! PPVS

Oh Mav you are fabulous. I would never smack you by myself, but if you keep this teasing up well I think you noticed some of the comments so I need not say more. You are such a great storyteller and whether it is adapted or not you really catch the essence of these two characters. Love the teasing and when I read your chaps I relly see it playing out as if watching the actual show. Love the tidbit t the end when Bette actually admitted stuff. That happened to me recently, play dumb play dumb then admit it at the end. Why we do these things!! ha ha

Thanks for another great chap’, Maverick! It’s fabulous to see that even though they have confessed their true feelings to each other, that hasn’t changed in any way their amazing chemistry and witty banter! And throwing in here and there some loving and sultry words makes it even more brilliant!… It was funny, cause I had to go to the small indian shop around the corner to get KANK, and all I had as a title was just that: “KANK”! So I started telling the story to the guy so that he would find me the movie, and I had to be careful not to say Bette instead of Dev’ (by the way, Bette… Bev’… Dev’…) and Tina instead of Maya!… So funny! But again, movie funny (especially the dance of luuuuv’) but fic sooooo much better! PPS, K ;)
