    The Loudest Whisper

    PART ONE

The sun shined down on brightly on the Porter-Kennard Academy Sunday afternoon. It was the middle of the first term and everything was running smoothly for Bette and Tina.
They spent many years trying to build their all girls academy, and after a lot of time invested and hard work it seemed like this school was here to stay. Both Bette and Tina watched over the girls as they played outside on their day off from their studies. Each girl wore a uniform Tina designed for them. There were only a little over 15 students staying there at the moment around 9 years of age, but if things continued to go as they were; Bette and Tina hoped to have more in the near future.
Tina strolled over to Bette who was sitting at a table watching the girls on the swings.
“Well Miss Porter, I think things have been going quite well these past few months, don’t you?” Tina said with a smile.
Bette smiled back; “Yes Miss Kennard I think our school is a quite a success”.
As the two women talked Tina’s Aunt Teresa walked over to them. Teresa was an older woman in her 60’s who came to stay with Tina when she stopped performing in plays in the city; and course she is quite the drama queen.
“When I was a young girl I didn’t like to get dirty and play on swing sets…times have changed I suppose…” she said with her nose in the air.
Tina laughed; “I guess so. Aunt Teresa did you get a chance to wash the dishes from lunch? We’ll be heading in for dinner soon.”
“Christina dear you know I don’t like doing things like that, it’s dirty work, I’m just no good at it, my place has always been on the stage…”
Tina cut her Aunt off” Yeah yeah, you just don’t like doing anything that doesn’t have to do with the theatre…I’ll go do them.”
“Tina I’ll do them, you two can keep an eye on the girls and get them ready for dinner.” Bette said before she walked inside.
Tina turned to her Aunt and gave her an annoyed look.
“What? It’s getting done…besides you can’t expect me to do ALL the work around here can you?”
“Ha! What are you talking about? You have the children recite lines from plays once a day and nag me during the rest of the day…not a lot of work if you ask me.” Tina said.
“So this is the thanks I get for helping you and Elizabeth get the school up and running? You never did appreciate me”. Teresa turned her nose up again and walked off.
“Always drama with that one…” Tina mumbled to herself.

    3. Coffee! What a pleasant surprise to see you posting this story! Yaaay! Wow! Indeed a different topic and another setting for B&T. You are doing an interesting job here. Keep telling what is going on. We are really hooked here! PPS Lucero & Marsha (JC’s Salsa Aunties)

    4. Bette has a boyfriend? *shudder* I like the setting for this one – I’m a sucker for both novels and films from the 40s and 50s. Can’t wait to read more :)

    5. I did enjoy the movie this is based on, but the ending really unsetteled me. If you are going to be true to form I think I will have a hard time reading this, it’s a great story though and I’m sure most would like reading it.
