    Tina at six months pregnant

    THE L WING – Chapter 182

     

    Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard-Porter

     

    I step out of the bath and look down at my bulging tummy. At almost six months pregnant I am finally beginning to enjoy the experience. At times this pregnancy has been bloody awful – my mood has been bad and the physical experience unpleasant. In the past ten days or so that has slowly started to change. I feel more womanly than I have ever done in my whole life – not just feminine but like I am connected so purely to my baby and to the woman I share my life with.

     

     

    Me having a hard pregnancy has been tough on Bette who at times has just borne the brunt of my frustrations and anger at how miserable I have felt. Never once has she hit back at me and told me what she should have – that I have been acting like a stupid spoilt bitch. Instead she has been loving and tolerant – I don’t know if she has taken her frustrations out at work but with me she has just been fantastic. I love her more because she has been so amazing and gradually we are doing what we should have all along – enjoying our last weeks as a couple before we are joined in our family by a tiny baby who is going to take over our whole lives.

     

    I slowly get dried and put my hair into place and head off to watch some TV. I have just settled into one of my favourite episodes of “The Simpson’s “when the door opens and Bette comes in. Even though she is wearing the same clothes she left for work in she looks very different – I sense frustration coming from her ever pore. Her face is set hard and her hair is looking like she has been tearing lumps of it out.

     

    “Good day my sweet” I ask ironically

     

    “Do not go there Tina – I am going in the bath – I may be some time.”

     

    She stomps into our room still carrying her briefcase which she usually puts aside once she gets home. I finish watching the Simpson’s and then get up pour her a whiskey and soda and go looking for her. She is lying on our bed – half undressed reading a report or letter. She looks up and accepts the drink from me without a word. She looks tired and like she has experienced the worst possible day.

    3. This story makes me suspect that everyone has an agenda that could damage Bette and Tina’s relationship. JJ is all up in her personal business. That kind of comment to your boss would get you fired most places. Alana is this weirdly attractive superstar that everyone wants.. ehh. Hope nothing bad happens.

    5. Firstable i have to said that is always a pleasure read yours chapters and i hope that we continue having the lucky to reading you. Is nice to see Tina and Alice talking is good for both of them. Shane is back and that means that Bette will have her old friend close to her helping.

    9. Hey Ally, Good to have you back and posting. As you know, I am in awe of your talent, both in terms of the quality of your story-telling and the speed with whcih you post. I have been suffering withdrawal symptoms at your lack of additions recently and that is all in the past with this new and awesome chapter. I love the way your characters face things head on and deal with them. There is no pussy footing around or attempts at deception. Tina and Alice were sweet together and made me LOL. IT was the coolness between them that soon warmed up and then the light-hearted banter about Alana. The reveal of Shane’s appearance just capped off this terrific tale.     13. A presidential function and speech at the Black Cat Hotel? I guess these things are a lot less stuffy with Bette in office. Good to see Shane on the mend. I hear Pittsburgh is recovering from tough times after having been a prominent and prosperous place. It was Carnegie’s US home. Still, not where I would have expected Alice to settle down. Glad that she and Tina are in a better place.
