    Bette thinks about what just happened.
    Bette: “What was that?”

    Tina: I look up and make direct eye contact with Bette. “Things have changed Bette.”

    Bette: “I can see that” I say rather snidely. “So you do know what I am talking about then.” It’s a statement that requires no response. “Was there just us when we wereor is that something you did with Helena, some ownership type thing you were into? Who was the dominate one?”

    Tina: I remain silent.

    Bette: “Because Tina, I tell you now, I love you and want to give my self to you, emotionally and sexually but I am not interested in ownership. Do you understand what I am saying to you?” I am getting angry. “Did you let Helena take you like that, did you belong to her?”

    Tina: And now Bette has gone too far. “No Bette I did not give myself to her.” I say defiantly as we stand face to face, Bette still has her arms crossed and I have mine on my hips. “Not that it would be any of your ***** business.”

    Bette: “***** is about right Tina because that sure as ***** was not making love.”

    Tina: “OK, OK. I admit it. There was a little pay back, there was a little making you mine again. I am not the passive bed partner you are used to Bette. What did you expect? You humiliated and embarrassed me Bette when you fucked another woman.”

    Bette: I am stunned, she just came right out and admitted it. I study her expression, genuinely confused. “Which you apparently will never let me forget. I expected us to make love Tina. You got what you came for, your payback.” I start to pull my clothes on, pants first and not the least bit intimidated by the new Tina. “The thing is Tina, the joke is on me because I really did give myself to you.”

    Tina: “Bette, please, you have got this all wrong Bette.”

    Bette: “Have I, how is that Tina? What part have I got all wrong? The part where I humiliated and embarrassed you, so you thought you’d do that to me, here tonight?” and I am looking for my shoes, which seems silly really because we are inside.

    Tina: I reach out and grab Bette’s arm to make her stop. “Stop” I demand. “You’ve got quite a lot of it wrong Bette.”

    10. I have followed your story along theway and until now have been a silent reader. Anyway, just wanted to weigh in on this. I definately don’t like Tina’s explanation. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing and revenge is something different. If Tina has not truly forgiven Bette for her indiscretion then they should not travel this road. If she has forgiven Bette then their would be no need for revenge. I think Bette should have not conceded quite so easily and could have probed further to better determine their current state and whether or not she has truly been forgiven.

    11. well, that was close…i did understand tina’s explanation and even though bette might concider to ask more questions, i think tina truly loves her and next time it will be love making that they both crave

    20. Unbeknown…Great writing. So intense. I love your ability to really give detail to the story and their thoughts but the last 2-3 paragraphs confused me. I understood that Tina was showing Bette that she was going to an equal partner to Bette in every way, in this case, the bedroom. However, why did Bette apologize to Tina, when Tina really tried to sexually subjugate Bette with the use of handcuffs, etc. ? help me out here. After all, Bette said she understood equality not ownership. Thx.

    23. Bette really did need to say that, the situation can’t be changed by having Tina trying to dominate Bette so she feels secure. I had a feeling Bette wouldn’t like it very much but now I think they should just move on together as equals.

    24. at the beginning of this chapter u described what Bette used to do to Tina to claim ownership so as the song says “I learnt from the best”; and T took control and really Imo Bette got angry after the fact because she fears losing control,so yes she should apologies for all the times she made T submit which you describe 2 of and allude to more…because that submission carried on out of the bedroom and filled the parameters of their relationship until T lost her identity…T is saying I want u Bette but as equals…I will not submit again unless you do…I thought this was one of the best B & T chapters I have ever read…it truly defines their new relationship, T is no longer Bette’s bumboy to put it bluntly…and I think she well and truly learnt her lesson about how that feels to be dominated, great stuff
