Bette: nothing.what timeis 6 ok..

Tina: 6 is perfect my girl..oh and Bette Emma found your box and we are all so excited about Friday.going to the Disney park..

As Tina was talking James entered Bettes office and handed her her schedule for her business weekend in New York. She was due to leave Friday morning.

Bette looked read her schedule and took a deep breath. She could not believe what had happened and that she had forgotten about her plans with the Kennards and her work. She didnt want to lie to Tina and decided that due to her background of being let down she had better come clean..

Bette: (in a soft voice)..Tina baby I need to chat with you about something?

Tina: oh what is it baby..you ok?

Bette: yeah.listen its about the weekendbaby I have to go to New York and I will be away all weekend..

Bette held her breath

Tina: (she didnt speak straight away, she thought about her wee ones and where she and Bette fitted together)..its ok Bette, listen I have to go, dont worry if you are too busy tonight..

Bette was just about to reply when she heard the phone click down.

Bette slumped down on the chair and looked up towards the heavens.

Bette: hey big guy or girl up there, how about you help sort something out here eh, give us all a break, especially my Tina?

Bette thought about what she had just said and focused on the ‘my Tina part’.

Meanwhile Tina sat and looked at the girls playing and getting ready to go shopping. A wee tear dropped down her cheek. However after a moment she told herself that she had come to America on her own and could easily go to Disney on her own, even although it would have been simply lovely with Bette. She scooped the girls into the car and managed to stay on the proper side of the road this time as she drove to the shops. The three of them bought a whole load of stuff and packed it into the car. Then once at home they went for a swim before getting ready. All the time Tina wondered what to do and thought of Bette. Part of her was annoyed but the other part knew that Bette would not have let them down without a good reason and work was a major reason for Ms Porter.
