Tell Me Something Good – Chapter 15

    Previously…

Bette, still speaking on her phone, “I know how I feel about you and the first time I say it to you isn’t going to be done over the phone.” Bette shut off her phone and placed it in her pocket.  She cupped Tina’s cheek and caressed it with the pad of her thumb. She placed a gentle kiss on her lips and looked her lovingly in the eyes. “I love you, Tina Kennard. I have never stopped loving you. I will love you for always.” A single tear escaped from the brunette’s.

Tina’s chest tightened at Bette’s confession. She kissed away Bette’s tear.

Bette smiled when she felt Tina’s touch. “Tell me something good.”

“Do you want to come in?”

    Chapter 15

Bette took a carton of Vietnamese spring rolls from the table in her office and placed a roll on her plate. She bit into the roll and savored the taste. She glanced at Alice, who dropped by unexpectedly with lunch from the local Vietnamese restaurant. “Thanks for lunch Al. I kind of missed breakfast this morning.” Bette smiled at the memory of spending time with Tina last night.

Al took the carton from Bette. “Oh, how come? You’re usually good about not missing breakfast anymore.”

Bette chewed her food slowly. She debated whether or not to tell the blonde journalist where she slept last night. “I stopped by Tina’s last night and we ending up talking and lost track of time. I didn’t get to bed or rather the couch until about two this morning.”

Al cocked an eyebrow. “Hmmm….the couch?”

“Yes the couch. I had an early meeting this morning, raced home and got ready for work.”

“And all you did was talk? No hanky panky? No horizontal tango?” Al teased her friend.

Bette eyed her friend. “Would you like to go home now?” Bette took a bite of her shrimp salad with peanuts.

“Okay, I’ll stop.” Al sipped her ice tea and leaned back in her chair. She had already noticed a change in the tall brunette and liked it. “What did you and Tina talk about?”

In the past Bette did not like to share what she and Tina usually talk about with friends. She liked to keep that part of her life…keeping the intimate details between her and her partner…to herself. Since therapy and moving to New York, Bette and learned to be more open. “What did we talk about?” Bette grabbed her iced tea and took a sip. “We talked about everything and anything. We talked about our wants, our fears, goals. What we want for Angelica and what we want for us.”

    1. I really don’t see this as a filler! Your writing is fluid and always purposeful, not just taking up space…I think you are setting the stage for a wonderful reunion..PPS!!

    2. Great chapter. And if this was a filler, wow, I’m afraid the real thing would just be too much for my frail TiBette heart. Enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for posting.

    3. Thanks for the update. Great writing for this story as it flows so well. I love the fact that they’re talking and surprising one another with visits and phone calls. I’m not sure how much longer they can hold out though. Awesome!
