    Chapter   5

     

    Bette got up from the wing back chair that she was sitting in and did a small happy dance. Immediately she relieved herself of her formal attire and got into cozy pajamas. Her mind no longer racing, she just started speaking out loud as if there was someone there to listen. “OH MY GOD!, Tina Kennard is going to exhibit in my gallery. The Porter Gallery is going to exhibit Tina Kennard’s work! This will make the New York galleries heads spin ……..” She was so excited about the art that she hadn’t really given Tina herself a lot of thought this evening, but, that was about to change.

     

    Bette laid in bed with a book to try to relax before turning out the lights. She knew that in her current state of excitement she would never get to sleep. She read the words on the page but she could not tell you what they said. Her mind was suddenly full of thoughts of Tina. She was beautiful, smart and talented. Just Bette’s type of woman. Wait a minute, she thought. Don’t mix business with pleasure. Let’s get this exhibit together before I ruin it with emotional entanglements. Still and all, she was finally able to close her eyes and fell into a deep sleep with a small smile on her face.

    Bette’s plan had been to return to LA on Saturday. That’s tomorrow. They were going to have a full afternoon of plan making today. Bette was to return to Tina’s at 1:00 for formalization of their plans to exhibit Tina’s work at The Porter Gallery. It was a beautiful morning. The sun was shining brightly on this Parisian day and all she could think about was getting to her favorite little bistro for crepes with a little chocolate and fresh strawberries. As she got out of bed and made her way to the bathroom, she caught her reflection in the mirror. A broad smile beamed back at her as the realization came to the forefront of her mind. In a few short hours she was going to finalize plans with Tina Kennard for her first exhibit in the US. “My God. It is really going to happen!” After a quick face wash and tooth brushing she was dressed and on her way out of the hotel for her beloved crepes.
