    Chapter 25

    There was no reply to her call.
    "Tina, baby?" she tried again, this time a little bit louder staring at the closed bedroom door. It was unlikely that Tina would hear her through the thick exotic wooden door.
    "Maybe she has gone back to the living room." Bette thought to herself slightly annoyed with herself that she had fallen asleep and that Tina, perhaps not feeling the need to sleep yet, had left her to rest. 
    She imagined that by now the blonde had probably succumbed to her own tiredness and was currently curled up on the sofa.
    The vet got out of bed, not without checking first that the beautiful blonde was not in the adjoining bathroom.  
    A discreet knock on the ensuite door, revealed an empty room. She sighed, walking to a chest of drawer to retrieve the t-shirt she had intended to wear in bed before Tina enticed her with her impromptu massage.
    She smiled at the memory and left her room determined to find the amazing woman who had stolen her heart.
    "Tina?" she called once again, venturing down the darkened corridor. "Sweetie, where are you?"
    She walked on until she reached the dimly lit area of the living room. The side lamp had been left on.
    "She must have been reading and fell asleep." Bette thought internally once again. 
    From her spot in the doorway, she could only see the back of the sofa.  She pushed further into the room, this time preferring to tiptoe her way across. If there was one thing she did not want to do, it was to wake up the blonde. Bette would simply scoop her up and take her back to bed where she intended to curl up with her and hold her like the precious being that she was. 
    Bette hit a further disappointment when she realised that Tina was not there either. The expectant smile which had appeared on the vet’s face was soon replaced with an incredulous frown.
    "Tina, baby, where are you?" she shouted across the house this time. 
    Her voice betrayed slight exasperation laced with a hint worry. Had Tina left? Had she gone back to the lodge? As far as Bette could recall, the accountant had not hinted that those were her intentions.

    5. Oh no. I hope it’s not who I think it is that that b*&^%tch Jodie shot. I’d like her to fall head straight into a pride of lions or maybe hyenas would be better and then she gets picked to the bone by vultures. I know that it’s all part of the circle of life but not Ellie :( I hope that Bette gets to Tina in time. Thank you for this. It made my day.

    8. Oh my goodness, you didn’t do that again?!!! Yes, you did too and you won’t be back till after Christmas? Can I hold out that long? So happy you are feeling better and now can enjoy your Christmas holiday. Wonderful chapter. Ii can only hopenthat Bette finds the little egotistical bitch before she takes the tusks and runs. The heavy body falling to the ground tells me jodi has killed the bull elephant. Hopefully Bette or someone can find her before she takes the tusks and catches her in the act or just before she gets on her airplane. At the very least I want to see her in jail for murder and attempted murder. Maybe jsutice will prevail in the Savannah rather than the courts of law. Hyennas are particularly vicious. I know it is wrong of me to speak and think evil of her but I just want to see her punished in the worst way possible. First I would like Bette to beat her to a bloody pulp but her first priority is to take care of Tina, she needs to get the authorities to jodi’s plane before she can take off. So much to say but, I will quit before I get really ugly. Thanks for a great and exciting chapter, even if you did leave us hangin’. lol Merry Christmas to you and your family and a very Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!

    9. I´m not really into the “you owe me” business, BUT I do believe you owe us by now. Twice in a row is so not nice. Now, Ellie may still be around, right? She will rescue Tina and plant her very nice and very big behind on Jodies face. Anyway glad you´re feeling better. Have a happy holiday.

    10. Oh No who was just shot. I hope that it was Bette finding Jodi and took her out. I am glad and sorta believed that it was Ellie that had found Tina, I hope that was not the body falling from Jodi shooting her or a memeber of her family.     12. Woman, you’re getting far too comfortable in that teasing business I think!… I notice that being unwell (so sorry again about that) hasn’t altered in any way that streak of yours. Bad, baaaaaaad girl!… And this, right before Christmas???…. tut tut tut, tu files un mauvais, un tres mauvais coton!… Now, that last part is very intriguing indeed… What has Jodie done? Whose body is it? What do you mean with this very mysterious phrase: “The situation had changed.”? Now, we have to wait… AGAIN, for all these answers! But hey, who am I to speak… *hiding behind the couch*… Anyway, I looooved how you had us crawl into Bette’s head as she gradually discovered all the pieces of the puzzle and put them together. I felt her anger rising as she realized the ordeal Tina had been through. God, I love angry Bette when she’s protective of Tina. Now, there’s one thing I need you to clear up for me: Is Jodie an outlaw (because of her activities?) or has she never crossed the illegality line (well, until now)? Because I was gonna say that after what she did to Tina, at least she’s now totally doomed to end up behind bars, but maybe she is already “wanted”… Anyway, that was a great update, and even though I am frustrated like everybody else by the teasing, I will not complain any more, because… well… at least YOU update your story *blushing furiously from shame*. What more could happened?…..OMG… Think i can only take some much…k40 ….First Tina is in danger… …thou this part assured me at least she’s been taking care off by ..a Magnificent Creatures… Ellie’s request had been simple, they would protect the human as elephants protected their own in times of distress. They would protect Tina, like Ellie had once been protected by her human family, something she had never forgotten.Following their matriarch’s example, they formed a ring around Tina. Facing outwards into the night, they would wait out the approaching danger……But??? ….who fall? “A body fell heavily to the ground.”….Can we just kill Jodie?!!! ….Thanks ..great chap…. [even thou it breaks my heart]

    27. Okay, I have read this last paragraph three times. And now, I am unsure who or what was shot. The single phrase, “the situation had changed has made me think differently than I first did. At first my thought was that jodi had shot the bull elephant, now I’m not so sure. It could be that someone has shot jodi because we don’t use the term “forehead” for animals, do we? Ahhh, so many questions. Thanks. PPS
