Two days had passed since Bette had met Admiral Christina Kennard. Bette was so full of questions for her that she started to make a list. She wanted to know everything about her, where she grew up,where she went to school and where in the world she had traveled so far. She had never met anyone in the service before and she wanted to make sure there was no protocal that she had to follow. Now adays service men and women where allowed to be *****. The law had changed and no one was going to be punished, or discharged for being *****. Bette had heard about this new law several years ago, but didnt think anything of it since she didnt know anyone in the service. Bette had just packed her bag with 3 swim suites, 2 towels, plenty on oil, sun screen, lotion and anything else she needed. She couldnt decide on white suit to wear so she brought all three. She didnt want to wear a bikini if Tina was wearing a one piece. She just wanted them to compliment anything Tina was going to be wearing.

“Ok Porter we are going to be downstairs. Come down when you are ready.” Alice was nervous for Bette. She knew how important making a good first impression on Tina was to Bette.

Ten minutes later the girls piled into there rental car for the twenty minute trip to Tina’s. Since Alice was given the job to get a rental car she opted for a convertable mustange. Everyone disagreed when it came to putting the top down or up. Alice had decided to leave it up since Tina explained in her direction she lived off of a dirt road.

The trip was unevental and everyone arrived in one piece. Bette got out of the car and saw are large 2 story home with glass windows all around. Upstairs there was a large patio that wrapped around the house to the backside. The girls knocked on the door and where suprised when the person came to the door. It wasnt Tina, but a little girl around 6. She had the cuttest little blonde hair and blue eyes. She invited everyone in, and explained that her mom was in the back cooking on the bbq. They all looked very shock, for they had not seen this coming at all. Maybe they where all drunk when she told them she had a child. Bette didnt mind though, becuase this little girl was beautiful. Bette introduced them all to the little girl whose name was Lauren. She asked them all to go out into the backyard, because she was going back upstairs to play with her dolls.

“Holy ***** Bette, she had a kid.” Alice was almost yelling

“Ya I know, isnt she cute.” Bette stated. They all found there way to the back of the house into the backyard. Outside Tina was standing by a large outdoor grill where she would cooking a very large meal.

Alice stopped and grabbed Bette by the arm. “You know Bette that little girl looks like she could be your child too. She almost has your skin color. Are you sure your not her father. “

“Alice” everyone yelled, and Tina turned around to greet her guests.

“Well I see Lauren let you all in. Welcome to my home.” Tina went over to Bette and gave her a quick hug,
“As you can see the ocean in just down that hill, and i thought we could go for a swim after dinner..”

“Yeah man that’ll work.” That was Shane “Um you got anything to drink. Im dry man.”

“Oh sorry of course. In the bar theres everything and anything.” Alice, Shane and Dana made there way over to a large outdoor bar that was fully stocked like a real bar.

“Um Bette can I talk to you for just a moment.” Tina had offered her hand to Bette and was leading her down a path to the ocean. “Im sorry i didnt tell you about Lauren. I hope this doesnt change anything between us.” Tina was scared. She didnt know how Bette would react to her having a child.

“Oh no Tina she is beautiful. It doenst change anything. But i do have one question wheres her father?”

“Well that kind of complicated. See i used a sperm donor to have Lauren. I was in a relationship with someone for about 7 years and we had Lauren about a year after we got together. She left me when Lauren was about 1. Just decided she didnt want to be a mom after all.” Tina had tears in the corner of her eyes, and she turned away from Bette so she woudnt see them.

Bette noticed this and went over to give Tina a hug. “Oh Tina im sorry she left you. But i can say this, she is the most polite little girl i have ever met. And alice brought this to my attention, but she said we kind of looked alike. Well except for the hair color and eyes.”

“My parter was black so we used a black donor. We wanted the back to be a mix of the two of us. And now that you mention it she could be your daughter too.”

“Well that settles it then. Lets go back before the girls have the whole bar emptied. Come on Tee.” Bette offered her hand to Tina and they began the walk back up to the house. “So Tina what is her name, your ex partner.?”

“Oh its Jewel, Candace Jewel.. She lives in LA now, shes a carpenter.”
