Reunion
Story written on December 4, 2012 by justkeepswimming.
She handed the glass back to Bette before setting her computer down on the entryway table.
"Don’t you think we should talk about that message?" Bette followed Tina as she headed into the bedroom.
"There’s not much to talk about Bette," Tina began. "I’m perfectly aware that you dated other people before I came into the picture. We haven’t even been together that long."
"I haven’t talked to her since you and I started dating," Bette went on to begin her explanation, even though Tina didn’t seem to want one. "She’s the one I told you about. Six months ago…one thing led to another…sculptor from deep in my past…"
"Bette, I get it," Tina turned to face her as she began to strip down for her shower. "I’m not thrilled that she left that message on your answering machine, but I’m also quite certain there are a few more people from your past who have yet to discover you’re no longer available for short term flings. Perhaps while I’m showering, you would like to make a list so that you can drop a simple note and let them know such propositions are no longer welcome or encouraged."
Tina tossed her bra into the doorway of the closet as she finished her diatribe. Bette could see the tension in Tina’s neck muscles advance with each word. Her raw emotion was accentuated with the removal of each piece of clothing. She then walked naked into the bathroom and shut the door definitively behind her.
"That was hot," Bette muttered under her breath. Then she chastised herself quietly. "No, she’s mad. That’s not a good thing. But holy fuck."
Bette heard the shower go on almost immediately. She sat on the edge of the bed and waited patiently for Tina to finish. When she heard the shower go off, she stood and gently knocked on the door.
"Yes," Tina asked, not a trace of emotion in her voice.
"Can I get you a towel?" Bette asked softly as she opened the door only slightly to poke her head inside.
Tina’s tone softened.
"It’s on the counter by the sink," she replied. "Thanks."
Tina silently berated herself. She wanted the luxury of being angry about this for a little while, but her haste left Bette with the opportunity to examine her at her most vulnerable. Tina was not yet at a point where she was secure in her relationship with Bette, but this was the first instance that she had felt any kind of tangible threat to their togetherness.

Hmm. Well, it went from talk of an anniversary week in the future, to a jealousy-inducing reminder of Bette’s past. That bit of drama was quickly handled, though, and led to a mutual, and sweet, declaration. I’m now wary of what else you may need to apologise for, though. Thanks for the post. :)
I’m with jp22 Swimmie…wary for the advance apology, now if all drama can be resolved in that quick span then we are golden.
I love how that whole scenario played out. Very realistic, to me at least. Tina the cucumber and Bette the jalapeño. Mmmmm☺ I’m getting hungry. Thanks swimmie 🐠
what’s the message? :P… Love it.. as always.. thank you :*
Jealousy is the root of all evil….. good thing Tina knows how to handle that..thanks for this update…
Thanks for the update, glad they talked it out.
Bette is a player and Tina is a cleric.
Hey ya Swimme -, finally catching up again. Personally I think the “drama” you’ve introduced so far (grad student and past flings) is realistic given their respective pasts and how that could play out at the start of their relationship. Having been on both sides of it, I can appreciate Bette’s response to Tina’s naked rant :0) At least they’re making an effort to talk openly and honestly with each other about things. Glad to see this story continuing and THANK YOU for giving it the time to develop. I’ve enjoyed following it (as well as your Tina/Shane story). Actually, I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read of yours so far so keep it coming!
Color me intrigued by your advance apology, jks. I hope whosoever you subtly sent it to got it. I love how this story has progressed from a chance meeting in a crowded train that sparked Bette’s wet daydream and Tina’s curiosity, to their series of dates and sleepovers and the exchange of “I love yous” without much fanfare four weeks later. Yup, it’s been a whirlwind but they’re growing closer, getting deeper much to my delight. I thought they handled Tina’s insecurity in a mature, sensible way. They’re still in honeymoon but they’re bound to have a fight or disagreement about something in the future, right? I hope they’ll overcome whatever challenges or obstacles they’ll face someday. Thanks a lot for spoiling us with your regular posts! =) I’m sorry my short notes of appreciation can’t keep up with your pace. Please keep it coming, jks. Write on! (P.S.1: You have every right to write about and share whatever you like. You clearly held back towards the end of the “Portmanteau Tale”; I think there was no reason to overreact. All I can say is that Tina is my fave character in TLW, warts and all and Laurel is the only TLW alumna I care about now, warts and all. P.S.2: I like the way you turned your love for reading into a sweet, endearing TiBette moment. Bette’s fascination with Tina’s mundane act of reading was a telltale sign that she’s in love. On a side note, I stumbled upon a blog featuring photos of people of all shapes, sizes and colors reading all sorts of books while riding the New York subway or waiting for their train at the platforms. Only a book lover and avid reader will find such photos so fascinating.) Cheers! =)
Thats good and glad they work thing out
great stuff, jks :)
Excellent thank you
Just caught up with the last few chapters. I’m so glad they told each other they love them. That can go a long way in getting over hurdles that they are bound to come across.
Thanks God,this went well,not too much drama.Great story,love it.PPS
I liked it and found it very realistic. Relationships are made of many kinds of people and sometimes two people can react the way they did in the story. They can talk about things and come to a conclusion without all the heavy drama. I like the way this story flows and am excited to watch it grow.
