Daylight gave way to dusk, but the oppressive heat of the day lingered as Bette walked out to swim some laps in an effort to clear her head and process the events of the day.  After her meeting with Tina at Foxworthy’s office, she considered spending her evening with a bottle of malbec. She had too much energy though, and opted to put on her suit and spend a quiet evening in the pool.

Bette dove into the pool and began her swim.  As she reached and pulled through each stroke, she felt the stress of the day begin to fade away.

    Earlier…

After the appointment at Dan Foxworthy’s office, she and Tina drove back to Tina’s apartment.  As they drove, each was quiet, lost in their own thoughts.  As she looked at Bette, Tina could see the anxiety building in Bette’s posture and across her face.  Tina reached across, took Bette’s hand in hers, gently kissed the back of it and then held it in her lap caressing it as she had so many times before.  It was one of the ways that they were able to calm and comfort the other.

Their connection earlier in the elevator was brief but intense, both physically and emotionally.  Bette’s profession of love and her desire ‘to come home’ gave Tina hope.  Their session with Dan helped solidify that both Bette and Tina wanted to be together and be the family they had originally dreamed about, and still longed for.

There were now responsibilities that accompanied this decision.  They would truly be parenting Angelica together as a couple.  They needed to work on the communication and intimacy of their own relationship as well.  Sex was never a problem, but they lost the intimacy  – small gestures, the looks that only the other understands in a crowded room, the gentle touches.  They needed to resolve to talk not only about the problems but the positive feelings they had, and realize if they had an argument or difficult conversation, they could work through it. They were meant to be together.  Their chemistry was magical and palpable any time that Bette and Tina were in a room together.  Whether they were in a relationship together or not, there was no denying the energy between them.

    1. This was SO much better then the real show. Bette was SO wishy washy it totally killed me on the show. IC just wanted Matlin to have a HUGE break-up scene that lasted about six episodes to submit for awards but it screwed the storyline over to get there. This was more like the B/T I fell in love with here..

    2. I have to agree with the comments posted so far – I would like to see a continuation of your story. This is the way it should have played out on the show. “I love you but I don’t want to tell Jodi yet” just didn’t fly with me. Thanks for posting!

    3. Now why didn’t it happen that way. At least Bette would have told Jodi instead of her finding out sitting around a campfire with everyone there. I think a bit more is needed. You know their night together, the morning with Angie.

    4. This was great for your first post, and I hope to see you continue this story. I’d like to see where you take B&T now that Jodi is out of the picture. Please consider continuing on with this soon!

    5. I love that Bette made a clean break after her and Tina talked. And Tina arriving at Bette’s house to give her the family night she had wanted was the perfect ending.
