Rebuilding Chapter 3
The sun shone through the bedroom and roused Bette from her sleep. She reached behind her only to find the other side of the bed cool and empty. She turned over and confirmed what her touch had discovered. Tina wasn’t there. Bette sat up and hung her legs over the edge of the bed. She stood up, stretched to her full form, and walked to check on Angelica, only to find her bed vacant as well.
Bette wandered through the house to the kitchen where she heard splashing and laughter from the back yard. Quietly, she leaned on the doorframe to take in the sight in front of her, as Tina and Angelica played in the pool, unaware of Bette’s presence. As Bette stood there, she pondered whether she could still possibly be dreaming. She had dreamt this sight, or some version of this so many times – the two loves of her life, in their home just enjoying the day. She just felt the warmth and love and couldn’t help but smile.
As Tina played with Angelica, she knew Bette was watching them, without even turning around. Tina waited for Bette to make her presence known while she continued to lightly guide Angelica around the pool. Tina knew Bette was lost in thought over the events of the last 24 hours. Bette would still need time to process everything before they could begin to have some serious conversations. Bette was a force to be reckoned with in the professional world. She exuded confidence, intelligence and energy that drew people to her. Their friends saw the confident, self-assured woman who was loving and caring to those close to her. Tina saw a side of Bette that few were aware existed. When faced with emotional issues, Bette was not the self-assured person that everyone else saw. She was uncertain and tentative until she was able to process her feelings. Tina had learned to be patient with Bette, and give her gentle assurances and time.
Tina pulled Angelica next to her and whispered, “Hey Angie, look who’s awake. Mama is here now.”
Angelica scanned the backyard, and saw Bette still lost in thought leaning on the doorframe. “Mama”, she squealed. She paddled and kicked towards the steps so she could go to Bette.

Oh boy bette needs to get rid of jodie fast. i sense drama coming soon…:)PPS
I’m glad Bette’s growing less uncertain seemingly by the second. Tina may still have to be really patient, but the end result will be worth it. Handling Alice, however, may use up all of Tina’s reserves… Thanks for the post, QL.
Thanks for finding the time! This seems a much more realistic path after the heat wave than what we were actually presented with on the show. More when you can would be appreciated!
Bette should tell Jodie that it’s over before they tell the gang that it’s on between them. Hope we hear more from you…I can’t wait for the next chapter.
It’s wonderful to see how easy it was for them to redicover their connection with one another. I hope breakfast goes well and that Alice isn’t too much of a pain!
Talk and then more reconnecting??? PPS
Bette did tell Jodie it was over didn’t she???? I like the plan of working on being a family. Let Bette and Tina plot their own course is what I say, of course Alice will have other ideas I am sure. :)
Lovely chapter. Glad that Bette broke up with Jodie finally, that was so long overdue. They can work on their relationship day by day and become much more close. They belong together as a family. PPS
i’m so into this story, pps.
I’m enjoying this alternative. Thanks.
Man they so adorable and soooo cute together as a family
