One Or The Other – Chapter 1
“Where do we go from here?”
“Forward,” Bette answered cryptically. She reclined in her seat, grateful for the chance to rest her tired limbs.
From the moment they had left for the clinic, the two of them had been nonstop on their feet. Angie was exceptionally attached to her two mothers after their return to Tina’s place, protesting loudly whenever one of them tried to move away.
Dinner was a noisy affair, since the fussy child kept her mothers busy. Finally, just minutes ago, they both treaded quietly out of Angie’s room after she had fallen asleep. The night light offered a shadow of illumination, the baby monitor a connection to the slumbering child.
Tina rolled her eyes. “Stop pretending to be Yoda and answer the damn question, Bette.”
She raised an eyebrow at the blonde’s retort. An angry reply was at the tip of her tongue. “I honestly don’t know, Tina.”
Both women knew it was the truth, but it was a bitter pill to swallow. There was much to be done, even though they had decided to give it another go. Tina willed herself to stay calm. They had had a long day, and her long forgotten jealousy began to rear its ugly head.
Bette saw the scowl on Tina’s face, and the day began to catch up with her. “I’m sorry I don’t have a better answer for you, Christina.”
Tina whipped around to regard Bette. “What are you talking about?”
“Isn’t what that look was about? Not getting a satisfactory answer from me?” Bette asked bitterly.
Her face went blank, before a light bulb went off in her head. She moved to sit next to Bette and held her gaze. “I was … thinking about the senator.” She quickly shook her head at Bette’s answering groan. “No, it’s not what you think.”
“Enlighten me then,” Bette challenged.
“She … touched you. In front of me,” Tina said softly. “I didn’t like that.”
Of all the things Bette had anticipated, Tina’s response was not one of them. Her slack-jawed expression prompted Tina to continue. “She could see what was happening between us and yet she still … What does she think I am? Chopped liver?”

I loved it!! But coop is so right. Thanks
Their dialogue has all the stomach-grinding angst of a real-life relationship. I mean to say, “Good job!” Looking forward to more. BTW – Don’t hockey and basketball go on forever? Thanks!
Whoa, heavy but amazing. I hope that Tina can learn to listen now that Bette is trying to communicate. And Bette needs to be ready to really try if she wants Tina back.
is Bette playing hard to get or what?! Lol. ok…slow Tina slow; as exasperating as that is. Bette is yours so ‘trust’…altho the senator is not one to trust…. and Bette is a ‘giver upper’. PPS.
Yea!! Nice beginning to the sequel. Thank you! I will patiently wait for a little “Season 5” alpha Tina (hint hint). I agree with coop..but then again…like IC says…what would a story be without a little drama? Drama is good, but I like happy endings much, much better. Maybe that is why I can’t put a book down once I start reading…I NEED to know how it ends.
Good to see you continue with the story. They need to calm down and talk and work thing out. Please post more, thanks!
Loving it!
Great beginning. Bette is so cautious and skeptical. This will be trying for both of them.
Is i was Bette i would have definitely stayed rounded Tina’s house ;-)great start can’t wait for the next chapter PPS
Sequelicious! Tina’s gonna have to slow down and think before she acts, cos the sentor’s always waiting… So glad you’re continuing, sky. thanks!
Bette should have stayed….maybe she’ll come back. pps
Welcome back….like that B is the one wanting to talk, process & take time, for T calms down she’ll see that this will give them the best scenario for a true reconciliation…Thx & PPS!
Tina needs to back off just a bit, but Bette needs to get her head out of her ass.
Fuc**** amazing. Just loved it. Please post soon :)
Bette’s giving me whiplash with the emotional ping pong she’s playing… and Tina needs to find a happy medium between pushing so hard and running. I liked the ‘courting’ idea.
