    The reunion of the parents and an interesting art lesson

    ONE AND ONLY

    CHAPTER 23

    Tina woke up after 12 hours sleep at 10am on Saturday morning. She had really not been in the mood to go to the movies like she enjoyed doing on a Friday night. Well it was her only fault for late night movie watching on a school night. She dragged herself out of bed and after using her bathroom she headed towards the kitchen. 12 hours sleep had left her very hungry and she was ready to eat whatever she could find. She had her own favourites for Saturday morning feasts and she was just considering toast and bacon with scrambled eggs maybe with some grilled mushrooms.

    “Hello darling “

    Emma came in – she was wearing jogging pants and a sweater. Tina raised her eyebrow at her mother’s unusual attire

    “Good morning mother – is there a reason for the clothes ?”

    “I am going for a walk. I don’t do enough exercise so as it’s a nice day I am going for a long walk around Central Park “
    “Where’s mom ?”

    “Gone shopping “

    Tina opened the door of the fridge and looked inside

    “Have we not had our supermarket delivery yet ?” she asked

    “In an hour “
    “Any bacon in the order ?”
    “Yes “

    “What happened to the stuff that was left ?”
    “Your mom and I had the munchies last night so we had a bagel with some bacon as a late night snack. We would have fixed you one but when I looked into your room you were fast asleep”

    “I was wrecked “ Tina admitted “ That will teach me – damn I wanted some bacon”

    “Plenty of eggs “ Emma offered wondering if she should take some coffee with her on her walk around the Park.

    “Eggs are not bacon”

    “You could walk down to the store and buy some “

    “Such a decline in standards since I started a non fee paying school “ Tina said in mock sarcasm
    “Would you like to tell me how we got fresh bacon when I was your age?”
    “If you give me the “ this is how we did things down on the farm “ speech it will not work. Grandfather is a judge and yes he has a farm but its nothing more than a tax dodge”

    3. Tuna time for you, Rocky… thanks for the two posts. I love this story and the meandering way it’s flowing with lots of good details. The reunion was great as is Tina’s trying to figure Bette out, thanks to assistance from Carmen and Shane.

    5. Delightful and also poignant. It is interesting how they are walking around each other. Tina doesn’t want to scare her off. Bette is not quite sure what she should do and her feelings are confusing her. Good that Shane and Carmen can act as mediaries.

    8. Rocky, once gain you have done an amazing job, thanks for the two chapters. With any luck the boss will give you a few tins of tuna for your efforts. Love the way they are cautiously avoiding the subject of feelings for each other. Maybe Tina can get her to go out walking or running with her and also to the cookout on Monday with Carmens family.
