    Tina talks to Shane


    ONE AND ONLY

    CHAPTER 21


    It was nearly the end of Tina’s second week at her new school and she had just got off the subway after running up the stairs she exited onto the street and looked around. On Monday and Wednesday she had run straight into Bette Porter and they had drunk coffee and talked on the way into school. She looked in hope for the brunette but among the crowd of commuters there was no sign of her. Tina sighed and decided that she didn’t want to get a coffee if she wasn’t with Bette. She couldn’t understand her own reasoning but she just kept walking and listening to her music. She was thinking a lot about Bette and the few remaining doubts about her own sexuality were fading away. She hung around with Bette more than anyone else in class even though she was making friends with a lot of the other pupils. She could turn on the charm and she knew how to be popular with the other kids but the time that meant the most to her was the time she spent with Bette. Bette was quiet – she didn’t talk all the time – that just meant that when they did talk it meant more to Tina than she even admitted to herself. Bette was under her skin and Tina knew for certain that it was because of Tina’s sexuality. With every minute that passed she was more and more at ease with that sexuality. The big mystery now was what was she going to find out if Bette was interested in her.

    Someone touched her arm and she looked round -it was the slight figure of Shane

    Tina removed her headphones and smiled

    “Hey there”
    “Hello – how are you ?”
    “Fine – what are you doing on this street – you live on the other side of the park”

    “I stayed at Carmen’s place last night”

    Tina raised her eyebrow “Really “

    Shane smiled “ Her parents are away for the night and we didn’t want to miss an opportunity to be alone “

    Tina smiled “ So where is she ?”
    “Dentist – she will be miss the first lesson “
    “Dentist – that’s a nuisance “
    “I know “

    1. I so love this story, especially if everyone gets to stay alive. (Both of Tina’s moms) I’m also looking forward to the journey that Bette and Tina take in strengthening their friendship and then deepening it into something more. I’m also hoping that both sets of parents can reestablish a good friendship with each other. I’m just saying… Thanks for the posting.

    4. Great update. If only I’d had someone to talk with like this when I was in high school and college my life would have been very different. It certainly would have been a lot less stressful and I most certainly never would have married a guy. Eeeewwwwwww, happy that’s been over for almost four decades. It is my hope that every young lady that is having questions regarding who she is and her sexuality get a chance to read this story. It is wonderful. Thanks for posting.

    8. I just love this story for many reasons but the biggest one is how I connect with it. I believe your Bette can be used to describe some closetted adult lesbians today. Still struggling with their feelings and doubts about their existence, a bit far fetched I know 😄 thank you 😉👍

    11. Wow! Simply WOW Ally!! Thanks for the update :-) And yes… Shane is yoda indeed! Her observation is so amazingly sharp and deep! And lucky for them to find each other as friends in such a young age!! And even luckier to be aware of their sexuality so early in their life.. Love the story Ally! And I think this slow burning makes the story so dear to me ;-) BTW… Would it be possible to celebrate the weekend after such a LONG week with LONG updates also!? :-D haha… Maybe it’s time for Rocky to wake up after such a LONG nap!? ;-) LOL hi-paws!!
