    Chapter 1

     

    Bette woke up hearing a familiar song in the background. She opened her eyes and the sight that greeted her was something that she wouldn’t tire. She gazed at Tina’s sleeping form while listening to the lyrics of the song.

    Been running from this feeling for so long
    Telling my heart I didn’t need it
    Pretending I was better off alone
    But I know that it’s just a lie
    So afraid to take a chance again
    So afraid of what I feel inside

     

    "This is just great!" Bette thought. The radio is telling me something, something that I have known for quite some time and haven’t gotten around facing head on.

    I need to know I can see you smile each morning
    Look into your eyes each night for the rest of my life
    Here with you, near with you, oh I
    I need to be next to you
    Need to be next to you
    Right here with you is right where I belong
    I’ll lose my mind if I can’t see you
    Without you there’s nothing in this life
    That would make life worth living for
    I can’t make it if you’re not there
    I can’t fight what I feel any more

     

    Bette tucked a strand of hair that has fallen on Tina’s face. Tina moaned from the touch and cuddled closer to Bette. Tina turned her back on Bette and draped Bette’s arm around her. Bette reveled on the feeling that Tina’s action brought on her being. She then once again fell into a peaceful and sweet sleep.

     

    Tina was the first one to wake up. She faced Bette and tried to open her eyelids. Bette groaned. Tina giggled. She again tried to force open Bette’s other eyelid. “You do know that is irritating, right?” Bette said with her eyes still closed. Tina giggled “But I love doing it. I only get to do it like once a year!”. “Ugh!” was all Bette can utter. She then blinked a couple of times and opened her eyes. “I swear Tee, one of these days you might make me blind!”. “You are such a drama queen!” Tina said knowing how Bette can exaggerate things some times. Bette gave Tina a warm smile and greeted her “Happy birthday, Tee!” and kissed her nose. Tina wrinkled her nose and giggled. “Thanks, Bee!” Tina said.
