Love and Basketball Chapter 24
Chapter 24:
Joseph and Kathleen Kennard are the proud parents of Christina Kennard. They have made decisions with her in mind. Always wishing the best for their little girl who is not so little anymore. Joseph was sad to hear that Tina and Eric broke up because was being groomed to one day take over his dad’s law practice. Kathleen has to remind her husband at times that they can not dictate their daughters love life. She is actually happy that Tina seems to be really hitting the books this semester. So when Tina called after her game asking if she could go over to her team mates’ for dinner she took the opportunity to invite Bette over to their home instead. She wanted to get to know the girl who is being such a positive influence on her daughter.
“Mom wants to know if you can come over to ours instead?” Tina asked her girlfriend while covering the mouthpiece on her phone.
“Thats fine T,” Bette said. “As long as I get to spend time with you.” She whispered.
Tina wanted to kiss Bette so bad right now but she knew she couldn’t. She went back to her conversation with her mom.
“Great! I’ll set another place at the table. When shall I expect you dear?”
“We should be in by 6.”
“Ok dear.”
“So we are having dinner at your place huh?”
“Yeah, do you mind?”
“No T. I know we want to be alone but we will soon don’t worry.”
“You’re the best, you know that?”
“Yes I do.”
“And so modest!” Tina smirked.
The girls drove over the Tina’s from the school parking lot.
Tina uses her key to enter her home. They immediately smell the aroma of beef stew one of Mr. Kennnards favorites.
“Mom, dad. I’m home.”
Just then a tall good looking guy with blond hair, broad shoulders and hazel eyes came into the living room with a huge grin on his face.
“Trevor!” Tina yelled. “What are you doing here?”
“Hey cuz.” Trevor said walking over to his favorite cousin and lifting her up into a bear hug. They haven’t seen one another in two years. Trevor is 3 years older than Tina but they have always been close. He took some time off after high school to travel through out Europe, South America and Africa before coming back home to begin college. Every month Tina would get a different post card and hear about all of the fun her cousin was experiencing around the world.
