Love and Affection chapter 12

“Shit, yea..ok, gonna change and we can go, ok?”  Tina ran out of the living room and got her gear on.  Bette barely moved to get up and Tina was ready to go.  “Babe, hurry up shoes and stuff…come on!”  Tina was nervous and was wearing her shorts on backwards.  Bette chuckled at the jokes that were going to be told. 

Bette loved how Tina was getting so worked up about her game and her nervous energy made it obvious what soccer meant to Tina.  Tina was putting her ankle braces and shin guards on when they got to the field.  Bette thought, well this field is so much bigger and wow, the lights!  Lights, a huge soccer field.

“Bette, pull over there so I can run to the bat….”  Tina ran out of the car covering her mouth.  She got to a stall in time to puke up her lunch.  “Shit, I knew I shouldn’t of eaten.  Fuck, so nervous.  Bette is going to think I am an idiot.”  “No I don’t babe, you ok?”  Bette came around and caught up with Tina, she looked at her girlfriend with some concern.  She understood feeling anxious about swim meets and would often puke before her heats.  “Do you want some water?  I used to puke before my swim meets.   The first heats always made me a nervous wreck, actually all of them did.”  Bette smiled and rubbed Tina’s back as she came back to her natural color.  “Ugh, much better.  Ok, ready to go.”  Tina got up quickly and walked out.  Like Bette, she recovered quickly and walked out to be a player.  Bette held her hand as they walked out together.  Lara and Dana saw them come over.  Dana smiled at Tina and was glad things were working out.  Lara looked at Dana and slapped her ass.  “Dana, they look like they are so happy.  It is about time that Tina was actually happy and not fake happy like she was with Eric.”  “Yea, no kidding, shit..lucky bastards.  I can’t wait till we go out tonight Lara.”  “Dana, we are going to enjoy our time trust me.” Lara winked and slapped Dana on her ass playfully.  “ Come on warm me up for the game, before Kennard starts blaring shots at my head.”
