    Tina is rushed to the hospital after experiencing complications with the baby.

    EXT IN FRONT OF THE ER ENTRANCE – DAY

    Bette’s car screeches to a stop.

    INT BETTE’S CAR – CONTINUOUS

    BETTE turns to TINA. She freezes in shock at the sight of her pale, unconscious face.

    BETTE
    (with tremor)
    Tee? Baby?

    EXT THE ER ENTRANCE – CONTINUOUS

    Nurses rush out, and open the front passenger door. They cautiously lift Tina up on a stretcher, and rush her in the Emergency Room.

    INT THE ER – CONTINUOUS

    Tina is rushed down the corridor to the intensive care room. Bette is hasting behind them. She is stopped in her course by a black female NURSE.

    THE NURSE#1
    (softly)
    You can’t go in there honey.

    Bette tries to push her away. The nurse sits her on a bench. Bette looks up at her confused.

    BETTE
    Tell me what’s going on?

    THE NURSE#1
    It’s OK, it’s gonna be alright.

    Bette shakes her head.

    BETTE
    Just tell me what’s happening! Please!

    THE NURSE#1
    Are you a family member?

    BETTE
    She is my partner.
    (bitter smile)
    We’re having a baby.

    THE NURSE#1
    I see.
    (pause)
    Just stay here honey. Everything will be fine.

    INT THE ER – LATER

    Bette is talking on her cell phone.

    BETTE
    I don’t know what is going on. They won’t tell me anything.

    She walks back and forth. Her hand on her forehead. She stops. Moves her hand down on her eyes as she starts weeping.

    BETTE (CONT’D)
    Kit, I am so scared!

    She inhales painfully.

    BETTE (CONT’D)
    OK.
    (beat)
    OK.
    (pause)
    I already called her, she is on her way.
    (beat)
    OK.

    She hangs up.

    INT THE ER – LATER

    KIT arrives. She hugs Bette.

    KIT
    Where are those nurses? I am going to tell them what I think!
    (pause)
    No really, what century are we in? huh?

    She looks at Bette, wipes away her tears.

    KIT (CONT’D)
    It’s going to be OK kid.

    She smiles nicely.

    KIT (CONT’D)
    Tina is strong. And your baby is strong too.

    Bette starts crying again. Kits takes her in her arms.

    KIT (CONT’D)
    Hush, hush. It’s going to be alright, OK?

    INT THE ER – LATER

    DOCTOR WILSON arrives. Kit and Bette rush up to her.

    KIT
    Doctor, what is going on here? Why can’t we see Tina and the baby?

    The doctor takes Bette’s hand.
