CHAPTER THIRTEEN: Big Sister Day

"Big sister program?"

"Yeah, a big sister program."

"What the hell is that?"

"Haven’t you been attending homeroom Porter? Our teacher has been talking about it for days now."

"I have been attending! You should know. I’ve been your seatmate for three days already."

"Well why don’t you know a thing about it?"

"I’m sorry Kennard, but attending homeroom doesn’t necessarily entail listening for me."

"It’s all your fault then."

"No. It’s yours."

"Mine?"

"Yes. Yours."

"And why is it my fault?"

"Cause you’ve been distracting me."

"Distracting you? You’re the one who keeps on talking to me!"

"Well, its not as if you don’t answer me back! And besides, you distract me even when you’re not speaking to me."

"Really now? Do pray tell Porter, how do I do that?"

"By just.. being you.. you know?"

"No I don’t. What the heck does that mean?"

"Beats me."

"You know what, just shut up."

"I can’t."

"Why not?"

"Cause I need to know what the hell the big sister program is all about."

"Arg!" Tina slammed her fists down on her desk in frustration. "You’re impossible you know that?" She screamed at Bette.

"Well, now that you tell me.." Bette shrugged, watching her seatmate turn an even darker shade of red.

Tina closed her eyes and started counting to ten. When that didn’t work, she tried doing her usual breathing exercise. Thankfully for her sanity, it worked and she soon found herself in a calmer state of mind. She opened her eyes a few moments later and saw Bette staring at her intently. "What?" She asked sharply, a hint of irritation still evident in her voice.

Bette sighed. Tina looked so cute when she was angry. Was that why she was irritating her on purpose sometimes? Whatever the reason, her temper was one of the many things that attracted the brunette to Tina. We are so compatible in that department, Bette mused. "Uhm.." She slowly started. "Can you tell me about the big sister program we are having later?" She asked softly. "Please?" She added in for good measure.
