Into The Flames (Chapter 7)
October 21, 2011
West Hollywood, California
“This is fucking ridiculous!” Helena argued from the cell she had been locked in all night, “I am not the fucking Philly arsonist! I’ve never even been to Pennsylvania, I don’t know where that hospital is, and I have a fucking alibi! Release me at once! You have no grounds to keep me here!”
“Well we are confirming the validity of your alibi,” Kevin said disdainfully.
“My wife would never lie!” Helena growled, “Dylan and I were at the “four seasons” celebrating our anniversary! You can call them! They all know me there and they saw me! They also have security cameras!”
“We found your card at the scene of the crime where the arsonist obviously had escaped,” Kevin argued.
“Are you fucking kidding me? I’m Helena fucking Peabody, the owner of one of the biggest corporations in the country. Do you know how many people have my business card? It could have been anyone!”
“Use your brain Kevin,” Joyce said stepping into the office confidently with Peggy marching behind her looking extremely pissed in the way that only she could. Joyce set a paper down on his desk and said, “you have no grounds to hold her. She has an alibi and a clean slate. We got a warrant for the video tapes at the restaurant to confirm it. Plus, if you remember how Karen Harrison was put on death row accused of being the Philly arsonist two years ago and she would have been killed if they hadn’t discovered she was actually framed.”
Kevin sighed and pulled out his keys. He knew Helena was innocent but he also knew that she had been the only thing remotes close to a lead on this evil serial killer. He unlocked her cell and said, “we’ll never catch that son of a bitch.”
“You will if you stop arresting innocent people!” Peggy snapped angrily, “come along darling, I will make sure no one touches you.”
“Thank you mother,” Helena said following her mother out of the station.
“Sorry you had to spend the night in there,” Joyce said, “the bastards arrested you pretty late last night, there was no way the judge would see me before morning.”
“We’ll it’s almost noon why did it take so long?” Helena asked.
