    Honesty

“I cannot believe that we just stole that sign”.

Bette looking at the heap of metal and Alice and Shane looking on a bit bewildered,

“Guys, I can’t thank you enough for your help! Jodie will be so excited to get this. She though it was beautiful. It may be a great addition to the piece she is working on in New York. I am going to crate it up and ship it to her. I’m going to fly out to try to talk to her. You know she left without saying anything to me. She got the commission and I found out from Phyllis. I was furious   …   and stupid. I let her leave without talking to her. I have no idea where we stand. Either way, I want her to have this sign”.

“Yeah, but Bette, Shane and I are sure that Tina wants you back.”

     Shane nods in agreement.

“If Tina wanted me back, she would not have encouraged me to go to New York. She was very supportive of me going to talk to Jodie and making things right. She went so far as to coach me on the conciliatory things to say to Jodie, I bow…….      Oh, anyway  …  it is over between Tina and me. We are trying to be friends and great mothers to Angelica and   …   well  …   We need to get going, I’ve got to get this ready to ship to New York”.

Alice in her never say never attitude, “But Bette …..”

Bette gave them the brow raised, head slightly turned glance that said she is done with the conversation about Tina.

As they got into the van to drive away, Bette could not help but think about what Shane and Alice said. It would be sooo easy to slip back into a life with Tina, her partner, her confidant, her daughters other mommy. But, could they make it good after all of the shit that they had heaped upon each other. She didn’t have time to think about it, she was driven to get this done.

In true Bette Porter fashion, focused and task oriented, she was going to New York to make things right with Jodie. She would win her back with her charm, her wit, her smile, those eyes. It was what she wanted. She was sure of that … wasn’t she?

    1. Oh yeah, continue. Bette better realize what she needs to do is tell JOdi she got the sign for her, because she knew she liked it, but that her heart belongs to the two women she left behind in L.A., and her ass is getting on a plane and going home.

    2. Of course you must continue. I hope that Bette tells Jodie she is sorry for all the craziness but that she understands why she left and then goes home to Tina.
