    Hindmost: Chapter 4

The invite, Bette thought to herself. *****! Bette and Candace had only been living together for three months and Bette knew how insecure Candace became at the mere mention of Tina’s name. Tina and Bette’s relationship had come to an end two years ago. They had said their goodbyes after their night of dysfunctional *****.

After a living the single life for six months, Bette and Candace had reignited their passionate relationship. Candace had been afraid that she would always be the other woman, so it had taken them a year to admit that they could not do without one another.

Candace had been unclear about the role Tina played in Bette’s life. It wasn’t until after Tina and Bette stopped communicating that Candace found the ability to say I love you. Then came their decision to find a home and live together.

Bette straightened up and fixed her robe deciding to enter the bedroom and clear the air. She could hear Candace inside the bedroom getting dressed. When she walked outside the bathroom, she spotted Candace by the drawer pulling up her black lace boy shorts. Bette walked intently over to Candace, reaching to remove the tank Candace was set to slip over her head from her hands.

Hey, Bette said tentatively. “I’d like to have a word with you before you leave.”

Candace sighed dramatically. “Bette, I really need to head out now. I told you I have plans.”

“It won’t take but a minute”, Bette replied.

“Please talk while I’m getting dressed, Bette. I need to be out of her in ten”, Candace said.

This hurt Bette to the core. She’s giving me a timeline, Bette thought. Bette sought to find her voice before stating, “You know I love y..”

“You love who Bette? You love you, You love Tina”, Candace asked with exasperation.

    “You”, Bette yelled!

“Oh, you love me now. You started loving me around six months ago. You loved me right around the time Tina made an exit. Where is Tina by the way? Any idea how she’s doing? I wonder if she’s back in the city”, Candace asked her voice rising with each question.

“I know you saw the inv..”, Bette started.

“Yes Bette. I saw the invite to your former wife’s singles party. You should go. You’re single, right? It’s not like we ever made a commitment. We just live together. We’re like friends. Friends that love one another. Friends with benefits”, Candace said.

By this time, Bette had silent tears of anger and frustration streaming down her face. She watched as Candace angrily dressed in less than one minute before grabbing her cars keys from the night stand and exiting. Bette sank slowly to the floor feeling as if her heart was being smashed to smithereens. A loud sob escaped her mouth.

    1. I’m interested to find out if Bette let out the sob because she really does love Candace and is hurt by her reaction, or if she does still have feelings for Tina. I will tell you once again to please ignore the rating people are giving you. They are doing it only because they don’t like Candace, not because of the writing. It’s a shame that they are being so obviously biased. Your writing is good…although, now that I have your attention, the chapters could be a little bit longer. :) Keep going, this is good.

    2. I agree with Lost. People drive me crazy when they rate a story low just because it has a Candace/Bette pairing. If you don’t like this pairing, don’t read the story, and if you do read the story, read it with an open mind. There all quite a few stories out there with pairings I have no interest in, so I just don’t read them. I don’t go in an sabotage the rating system. In other words, grow up ladies! By the way, I like the story so far, and like your writing style.

    3. I think they’re just rating you low, because they can’t come up with anything new or original themselves…..sorry but there are like 985643985 b&t stories I’d like to read something new

    4. If I read this story correctly, I would infer that these tears are about Candace and not so much Tina, but we’re still at the beginning of the story…so, it could be about anything, including Bette’s own insecurities in her new love with Candace.

    5. I agree with all you guys above. I am a passionate B&T fan… but reading something new is fine with me. I just have one thing that doesn’t quite fit in… Bette is not a passive, submissive person… she is Bettezilla… Type A bitch and I think she is out of character…
Then again its just the beggining of the story… keep the coming

    6. please keep going with this, I actually was intrigued by the Candace/Bette relationship and I think you’re brave to write about it, because it’s so reviled. Keep going please, I’d rate this at a five again if I could but the system is against me!! :)

    7. Story is good… keep going, it’s yours. To the other vee – haven’t seen you on the site before – i’ve been here for months – should i use uppercase to distinguish between us????
