Fog
She woke up late the next morning. Her hair a sticky mess. Her mouth felt like it was dry of any saliva. Her clothes looked like wrinkled pieces of cloth on her body. She tried to move out of bed, an action that looked like an impossible task at that moment. Her muscles were hurting as if she had been training 24 hours non-stop the previous day. So she moved on her back and started staring at the ceiling. She tried to remember the events of the previous night. Did she imagine the whole thing? Was all that just in her head? Was the fog real? It must have been real judging from the state of her clothes and hair. What about all the other things, the things that she felt, the things that brought tears in her eyes. Were they real?
A feeling is a feeling. How can you prove it is real? Most of the things that happened were in her head. Don’t these things count as events? Why can’t a feeling be an event. It is an event for one person. You can’t prove it, you can’t explain it to anyone. It was for your eyes and soul only. An emotional experience can be as real as a conventional experience.
What caused it? The fog? Really? Can a natural phenomenon cause such an emotional breakdown? Can an animal provide you with more support than any human being ever had?
“THE DOG! Oh god …..the dog”
She immediately got up forgetting any pain on her body and ran for the front door hoping. She opened it and there he was looking as dirty as she remembered him sitting beside the front door looking contemplatively at the street. He turned his head a few seconds after she opened the door as if he was waiting that she was going to.
“Who are you…..?” she asked truly waiting for a reply.
A few moments of silence passed until Dana realized that he wasn’t going to reply even if she could expect anything from that creature.
An unpleasant feeling triggered by a foul smell shook her into reality. However she wasn’t entirely sure if it was emitted by the dog’s filthy fur or her sweaty unwashed skin.

Yes, I was waiting for an update on this mysterious story and am glad that you find the time to do so. I have to chuckle when D found Lighthouse still sitting on the couch while she was taking her bath. I enjoyed D’s one way conversation. It seemed she was very clear with who she was and what she desired. It will be interesting to find out where Lighthouse came from and the purpose of him being in D’s life. Thank you very much, observer!
So glad to see you back, observer!! I am really interested in this story and I hope you continue it. Lighthouse is certainly an intriguing character. I agree with HD that the one-way conversation was great. Dana does seem to be accepting herself and planning how to move forward. The “butch” thing was pretty funny, too. I look forward to more of this wonderful story. Thanks so much!!
