Well, first of all, please allow me to apologize for not posting for two straight days. I should have no excuses, but I do. Life has brought company to my doorstep and as K. has pointed out to meI cant be rude to them. I thought I could, but I get in trouble with K. if I am rude, so ya know! And you know I cant have K. upset with meI dont know if I can stand the punishment!

I hope to never disappoint you and since I have been away for 2 days, I will let you in on a little secret (which I think most of you may know, but I am not sure) I will not have Sharon diethere are her issues with homosexuality that still need to be addressed and insight given to Dana.

Oh, and as far as the whole Dana/Jenny thing that went on in this weeks episodeOH HAIL NO! That will not happen in this story, as funny and awkward as it wasumNO!

Chapter 19

The feeling of dread that loomed in Danas heart as they heard an alarm going off in one of the ICU rooms blanketed her whole body. She turned her face towards Lara who was trying to reassure her that it would be ok. They made their way to the corner of the nurses station to see people running into a room and hearing orders being barked out as they worked on the person to try and revive them. Unfortunately, the man in room 3, next to Danas mothers room was not to be revived today.

The guilty relief that Dana sensed overwhelmed her. She was happy that it was not her mom that God had decided to take, but in the same instance, she couldnt imagine what this mans family was going to feel. As they passed room 3, they saw the doctor putting a sheet over the mans body and the nurses turning of machines. Lara and Dana both said a silent prayer for the man and his family, as well as thanked God for not taking Sharon from them.

They entered the darkened room to see Sharon, still unconscious. A small smile came across Danas face as she began to think.

What are you smiling at? Lara could sense the calm in Dana.

I was just looking at mom thinking that she always used to tell me that I looked like an angel when I slept. Danas eyes averted to Laras. She just looks so peaceful and oblivious to what is happening. She is the one who looks like an angel now. Dana laid her head on Laras shoulder and wrapped her arms around her waist.

Well, there is one thing that your mom and I agree on. You do look like an angel when you sleep. Lara kissed the top of Danas head and drew in her scent.

uh hmm. Holli, the nurse they had met last night came through the door. Im sorry to interrupt.

Dana got startled and let go of Lara. Oh, you arent interrupting, we were just saying how much my mother looked like an angel sleeping.

Well, I just wanted to check on her one more time before I left. She did pretty well through the night. I am not sure, but I think the doctor is going to start to bring her out of the coma tomorrow, but it will be a long process. Holli crossed the room and checked the vitals that were displayed on the machine and made sure the IV was still flowing. He will be in here in a few hours. He usually starts his rounds pretty early so he can get to all of his patients and their families.

I dont know if my dad is here yet. I will let him know though.

Well, I know this is hard to do, but you need to go home sometime today and get some rest or else when we move your mother to a room, you may be joining her if you dont take care of yourself and get some real rest. And dont tell me that those lounges out there are comfortableI know better.

Danas smile got a little bigger. Yeah, although this one was beside me, she pulled Lara into her side, it just wasnt the same. The arms of the chairs wouldnt allow me to get close enough.

All three women laughed. Well, I am going to go update the charts and I will see you tonight.

Thank you Holli.

For what? Nurses rarely got thanked, unfortunately.

For taking care of my mom last night and for being so nice to us. Danas voice was so sincere. You dont know what that means.

Well, you are welcome. Now try and enjoy your visit. I will leave you alone. Holli placed her hand on Danas arm as she left the room.

You know, she is right, you do need your rest and a shower to help you relax. Lara turned Dana to face her once again. How bout we sit in here for a while and talk to your mom and then get you home for a little while. Lara saw Dana about to protest. Just for a while, we will be back tonight. Lara hand rose to cup Danas cheek. I know how you want to be with her.

Thank you. I dont know what I would do if you werent here with me. Danas head turned to the side and rested upon Laras chest as both held to each other tightly. Dana brought her head back up and gently kissed Laras lips as she began to let go and go closer to her mothers bedside.

Hi mom. Dana gently held her mothers hand. She proceeded to tell her how she looked like an angel, how they had been there all night in the lounge chairs and what a great nurse she had.

Lara looked on in amazement at how well Dana seemed to be doing today. She didnt know if it was exhaustion that had worn out or a new hope that Dana had come across when she looked at her mother this morning. As she heard Dana tell her mom that she loved her and that she would be back later because the woman that she loved was going to make her rest and take a shower, all she could do was grin as her eyes gazed upon a daughter, loving her mother.

When they made it back to the waiting area, they saw Alice sitting with Howie and talking. Dana approached slowly, scanning the room to see if she could see her dad anywhere, but he wasnt there.

Howie, how did you get here?

Dad brought me. Didnt you see him in there? Howie seemed a little confused. He called back to see if we both could go back, but they said that only one could go back right then because there was someone else in the room.

Danas brow furrowed in confusion. No we didnt see him. Are you sure he went back there?

Yeah, he went back maybe 5 minutes ago.

Maybe he took a wrong turn and went into the CCU or something. Lara tried to come up with an explanation.

Maybe. Well, Lara is taking me home for a while. Alice, are you coming or do you want to stay?

What stay here with you little brother? Alice stood up. What are you crazy? I wouldnt stay with him if you gave me a thousand dollars. Maybe for two thousand though. Alice loved to tease Howie.

Who says I want you to stay with me anyhow. I might pick up a chick nurse and get her to take my temperature. Howie smiled from ear to ear and bounced his eyebrows up and down.

The banter between the two even made the other family members around them smile a little. Dana and Lara just stood there, shaking their heads. Trying not to get embarrassed by the two in front of them.

Youre a sick little perv arent you?

Okay you two. Break it up or go get a room. Dana was ready to crawl under a table now. Come on Alice. Do you need a ride or anything?

Yeah, I rode with Shane. I was hoping that I could get you outta here for a while, so I just rode with Shane.

Well, Lara beat you to the punch and so did Holli. Dana knew that would get some type of comment.

Holli, whos Holli? Alices eyebrows lifted and her mischievous grin appeared across her face.

Moms nurse you horn dog. I thought you were into riding the meat again anyway?

Lara and Howie both busted out laughing and Alice was in shock. Dana mustve been exhausted or else she was beginning to loosen up. She never used to say things like that.

Well, for your info, I do anything or anyone I please. Now are you ready?

Yeah, come on. Dana hugged Howie, We will be back later.

Dana grabbed Laras hand as they walked out of the waiting room with Alice in tow. Dana wondered the whole way to the car why she hadnt seen her dad in the ICU. It wasnt big enough to get that lost in. Once in the car, Dana let Alice know how her mom was doing and what had happened.

They arrived at Alices about 20 minutes later. Well, thanks for the ride. Let me know if you all need and you know I will be there.

Thanks Alice. We appreciate it. Ill call you later. Dana looked back as Alice got out of the car and smiled.

They finally made it home, to the relief of both of them. Baby, why dont you go take a shower and try to relax.

That does sound good. I do feel a little icky. Dana went over to embrace Lara. I ask myself everyday what I did to deserve someone like you and to be able to have another chance. She gazed into her lovers teary eyes, If this is a dream I dont ever want to wake up. She slowly moved her head closer and captured Laras lips.

Although exhaustion racked their bodies, the kiss lasted and eternity. The intensity would increase and then decrease, as if Dana was teasing a tiger with a steak. She went in one last time before breaking away to head to the shower. Her tongue caressed and parted Laras lips. Lara willingly gave full control over to Dana.

You keep this up and we arent going to get any rest. Laras eyes slowly opened as the kiss ended.

Danas shy smile spread across her face and she swung her head to the side. Who said I wanted rest. Her eyes sparkled with desire as she looked up at Lara. Everyone says that I need rest, but I think I may need to exercise before I go take a nap.

Exercise, huh? Lara pulled Danas waist and hips into her. I think exercise is a good part of daily life. She leaned down and took Danas bottom lip and let go of it slowly. Now, go get your shower. I will be right behind you, I promise.

Dont make me wait too long. Dana began to head upstairs.

I wont. Lara turned and went to the phone. The number she dialed was one that she hadnt dialed in a long time. As the person on the other end said hello, tears formed in Laras eyes. Mom, please dont hang up. I just needed you to know that I love you all and that I miss you. Silence. She could hear her breathing, but hesitant to say anything. Goodbye. With that, Lara hung up the phone and wiped the tears away.

As she approached the bathroom, she heard the shower running. She undressed to join Dana. As she stepped inside, she saw Dana standing there, letting the water beat on her body, her head hung down, trying to grapple with the events of the past day. She stood behind her, placing her hands on Danas hips, allowing the water to run over them Her body inched closer to Danas. Her *****, finally touching Danas back, she pulled her in tight. Dana lifted her head and allowed it to continue until it rested on Laras shoulder.

Laras lips brushed against Danas ear, Let me relax you. Laras right hand reached for the body wash, as the other stayed in its place upon Danas hip. Lara drizzled the Nag Champa down Danas body, which made Dana gasp when the cool wash hit her hot body. As Lara began to lather, the aroma of vanilla, musk, trees, fresh rain and most of all, love filled the shower. She gently took the body wash that she captured in her hand and circled Danas *****. She started on the outside and worked her way slowly into the nipple on each one, eliciting a low deep moan from Dana. As Danas head pushed further back into Laras shoulder, she showered the exposed neck with kisses, her hand slowly gliding its way down Dana’s soft tender body. Not to allow her other hand to miss out on the pleasure and fun that was in front of her, as her right lathered its way down, the left caressed and massaged the newly cleansed breast area.

Lara continued to wash Dana, but not satisfying her true need, at least not yet. Her hand traveled around the area that was beginning to ache, teasing. Dana reached her arm up and twisted her head back to kiss her tormentor. As their mouths melded together, Laras hand found the place it belonged. As her fingers began to stroke, Dana broke the kiss with a gasp, her arm still wrapped behind Laras head. Her body began to rub up and down against Lara, in rhythm with the strokes Lara was lavishing upon her. The hot water cascading over her ***** down her stomach and into Laras hand, only intensified the feelings that was overtaking Danas body. As the rocking began to intensify, so did the stoking. Danas breathing became labored. She now held onto Lara for balance as her knees became weak. Her head pinned against Laras shoulder, her mouth open gasping and moaning. Her body began to quake, her knees buckled. Lara supported Dana and kept her assault up on her lovers body, her fingers and hand beginning to get faster, rubbing harder. Finally, Danas knees did give out as she moaned Gods name and Laras in the same breath. Laras hand stayed in its place, stroking slowly again, as the shudders from Danas body continued. They subsided slowly as Dana began to regain her faculties and turned to face Lara. She captured her lips in a passionate kiss. As the kiss continued, the water began to cool, bringing them both to back from their private world.

I think we should probably get out before it gets too cold.

If you insist. Dana reached behind her and shut off the water.

They stepped out of the shower and dried off. Both wrapped in towels, they moved into the bedroom. Dana pulled the covers back on the bed and turned to face Lara. She reached up to remove the cotton barriers between them. She reached out her hand and pulled Lara to her. Do you know what you do to me? You make me feel so much more than I ever thought possible.

Lara placed a kiss upon Danas forehead as she gently laid her down on the bed. Never saying anything, Lara laid beside her love, gazing into her eyes. She placed another kiss upon Danas lips and pulled her into an embrace and didnt let go. The barrier of the loungers from the previous night removed, they held each other and finally began to rest.

As they rested, life went on outside and all around. The birds chirped, the sun shined, the cars drove by. They shut it out for the time being, knowing that they would face enough heartache once they returned to the hospital.

As thoughts of the hospital left their minds, a visitor approached the door to Sharons ICU room. Tears began to well up in the visitors eyes.
