    Are you jealous?” Bette asked.

Tina placed a tender, sweet and kind kiss on her temple, and felt that missed lively feeling that warmed her chest. Love. She returned to lock eyes with Bette.

    “ Completely. Absolutely jealousy…”

    “T?”

    “I’m listening, sweetheart?

    “And you?”

    “Me, what, darling?”

    “Do you love me?”

    “Completely. Absolutely.”

    —————————————————————————-

    The confession.

    Eyes wide open.

Tina took the moment to evaluate her love.

She took in Bette’s questions, wounds and silence.

The silence. Silence as a refuge or as a commitment.

Silence and movies. No matter what Tina was always caught up by something on the movies. When talk movies began, in 1927, silence was recognized as a barrier. But when the sound came, silence began to be identified as expression, a significance. Silence means.

But between people, what would silence means? Similar to movies, a lot.

Tina read once that Samule Backett  –  and she had a lot of nights in his company – used to stay hours in the company of other writer without a word. Beckett and his friend sat in the Coffee and enjoyed the silence. Tina used to think that she shared this feeling with Bette. They used to say so many things without a word.

But this was once. Like the fairy tails. Once upon a time.

Silence could mean the obscurity of truth when and while the souls would be screaming conflicts, doubts, wrapped in painful fights. Without a word. Like themselves, once, in a very present distant life.

    But. Silence was something different.

Silence now was comfortable, because it was not a bunker, a protection, a front.

    This silence was disarmed.

Tina was scanning Bette. Her messy hair. She inclined herself and let her nose brush the mass of curls. She allowed herself to feel once more. She missed in despair the times Bette used to give her what she called a bouquet of curls. She pushed her curled hair to one side or in a pony tail, pull then all together and offered her the most perfect and original bouquet: Bette’s hair perfectly arranged. The curls exposed hanging compacted.

    1. Hi Doll! Thanks for topping me. If anyone was going to do it, I’m glad it was you! * wink * Yeah, you know why too. Thanks once again for sharing your passion for writing with all of us. Your talent both in writing and especially photography amazes me. You’re a valuable contributor to the site, and I’m so very happy to call you my friend. xoxoxo Talk soon.

    2. wow… what a treat ! 2 chapters today, one of each of your stories… well, I’m happy that Bette is bette/r and that life can now resume its course after this catharsis caused by the accident : everyone is now very conscious of what she was so close to loose for ever… house can become HOME again, for all of them… and Tina and Bette can begin to heal together, and be re-acquainted with each other… and share love, in all and every senses :-)))

    3. Thank you for allowing Bette to voice her inner most thoughts. The fact that she has learned from this accident has made her a much better person. Tina also knows how much she could have lost. Life without Bette and Tina is a love lost.

    4. Dear Braz, I have to thank you for a lot of things today. For your very endearing talent that makes this story of yours a beautiful journey through deep thoughts and feelings, bringing so much emotions in me… Then, for having help me, thanks to your so kind answers, to express myself more freely through some of my typical (sorry, Lamentamini !) river-comments. Following what I wrote to you, I endly share my longtime silent thoughts to the wonderful Chicki – who just made me cry with her author’s note, such a priceless gift for me… And finally, I have to thank you in advance for this PM you promised to me and that I cannot wait to receive (… take your time, I certainly don’t want to put any pressure on you ! ^_^). Yes, I also think we have a lot to discuss and, believe me, it will be a joy to do, dear co-arts lover ! (*wink*) *** I came back from holiday too late to comment your last chapter, but I wanted to say now how much I loved it : it was truly a work of love, where each sentence brang so much in heart and mind and where emotions were particularly palpable… Marvelously touching, really moving – you simply put me right in Bette’s room with the so vivid way with which you depicted such an emotional moment. Such a deep sensitivity, such an amazing empathy – simply life given to characters with a beautiful view into your own soul, dear so talented author. *** Reading twice this new gem of yours this morning (one for an immediate reader’s pleasure and one for a deepest impression, as I love to do with all my favorite stories here), I felt my mind and heart warmed with the so delicate touch of your writing and the so essential topics you brang – once more. So let me express it through three of your sentences here : “And Bette accepted her sentence like the sun accepts the night falling. Naturally.” – I just adore that… beautiful, really; “When talk movies began, in 1927, silence was recognized as a barrier. But when the sound came, silence began to be identified as expression, a significance. Silence means. But between people, what would silence means? Similar to movies, a lot.” – So true (and the huge cinema’s lover I am cannot help but applause to this tribute to the so-called silent years !). One doesn’t meet very often people to enjoy silence with, but when it happens, what a feeling ! I learned that with my lifetime best friend and forever love, and it was such a gift to hear her confessing that she also learned it with me… I can only repeat here the same Little Prince’s quote you used in your last chapter, one of the most beautiful and true quotes I ever knew : “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” ; “When I was there I felt pain. But I also felt the most complete and utter loneliness. I felt peace. I felt sorrow. I felt…and I felt… And I felt… And I couldn’t say a word to everyone.” – well, I couldn’t help but took this feeling on a personal way, so through a metaphoric sense : not only an accident can have such an effect on people. Self-built protective walls can also cut us from the world – the expressive world, I mean – to bring us to a kind of no man’s land where our only possible dialogue about emotions and feelings becomes a monologue… I was there and so I deeply understand Bette’s words – even if their sense is more litteral here ! And after months and months of process, I also was able to endly express my fondness and gratitude to the wonderful few ones around me. It’s so important to tell to our choiced family how much we love them ! My friends and my one-special-one supported me in a way that never stops to amaze me, to relieve me, to bring joy and hope in my heart. Everybody should take a moment, like our Bette here, to express love to the ones who count for us. *** Thank you so much for sharing your talent and beautiful mind and heart with us, Braz ! A lot of smiles and a big hug from your faithful reader – A.

    5. Thanks so much for the update of this wonderful story. It was wonderful for Bette to confess her feeling and love for her family. Thank you also for your author’s note, it was quiet candid and very touching.
