    After Alice and Shane put Bette to bed.

    Just do this, and then you can move on, Tina told herself. She suspected she was lying but ignored it. If she allowed herself to evaluate the plausibility of what she was about to do, she would have to retreat in surrender. She didn’t want to retreat, regardless of the outcome. She set her purse and coat on the sofa that Alice and Shane had not so long ago graced. Tina quietly made her way to Bette’s bedroom and steeled herself for what was to come next.

    When she walked into the room she was startled by what she saw. Bette was asleep in bed still dressed in her work suit, sans the jacket. Bette was always so careful with her suits. This disarmed her a little but she kept her resolve. She made her way to the bed, slipped off her shoes and carefully, quietly climbed into the bed spooning Bette from behind, careful to keep enough distance so that Bette wouldn’t feel her swollen belly. The aroma hit her instantly. A mixture of booze , perfume, and shampoo. Lavender, jasmine and a hint of lilac immediately aroused Tina’s senses. She instinctively reached out to touch Bette’s hair and inhaled as much of her as she possibly could.

    Bette stirred, still sleeping but mumbling Tina’s name nonetheless. It was a habit that Bette had acquired since the split. Had Alice stayed like she wanted she would have been witness to this nightly ritual that Bette herself wasn’t even aware of.

    "Shh, shh. It’s ok." Tina tried to calm her, stroking first her hair and then the arm that rested on her side. Bette’s mind was struggling through the booze fog. Something’s different. She felt the side of the bed behind her sinking slightly. Somebody was in bed with her. She didn’t even remember how she got to bed, and now there was some stranger next to her? Nice move, Bette she silently reprimanded herself before realizing that she recognized the scent behind her. She slowly rolled over and found herself staring directly into Tina’s eyes. The moonlight coming through the windows gave away Tina’s golden tresses and beautiful eyes but not much else.

    Bette couldn’t believe her eyes. I must still be drunk. "Is this real?" she asked weakly.

    4. This was a great first chapter! I remember how unforgiving Alice seemed to be towards Bette until this scene…and as Alice was stroking Bette’s head, I remember thinking, ‘see Alice, see how much pain Bette is in too!’ Thank you for this…I hope you do continue!

    10. This scene from season 2 was one of my favorites. Bette’s pain broke my heart. I’t nice to see your take on what else could have happened between them. Please continue!

    11. It’s hard to believe that this is a first post. You write beautifully, like a seasoned pro, and you’re taking the story in a direction I would have loved to have seen on the show. Continue? It’s a no-brainer. Hell yes!

Just wanted to let you know (the early readers) that I noticed a mistake on page 2 and cleaned it up. Something went flooey in all the copying and pasting. It was the second paragraph of page 2.     25. Oh wow that was awesome. I felt like I was right there. You must continue this I love this. This is something that should have happened on the show.

    27. This is awesome. I always wanted Tina to see Bette at this point. We got to see her fall apart but not in a good way in season 3 and nobody to catch her when she fell. If Tina had seen Bette at this point then maybe things would be a whole lot different.
