Bette had been sitting on the corner of the Highland pub for about an hour. The pub is rather quiet around mid-afternoon in winter time. She had been reading The Peak (Simon Fraser Universitys school newspaper) for the past half an hour getting acquainted with the things that are going around the school and looking for a new place to move into. She noticed there was a cute blond girl with shoulder length hair walking in with a guy thats also quite good looking heading to the pool table. The girl is wearing dark washed hip hugging jeans with a dark brown long sleeve v-neck shirt that accentuate her curves and a black belt with a square silver buckle. The brunette guy has a short gelled spiked hair style and wearing a stonewashed jeans with crew neck dark navy blue wool sweater. After they put in their order with the waitress, she saw the blond gal squatted down and put in a loonie (CAD$1) into the pool table dispenser and soon followed by the sound of the pool balls racking. The guy racked the balls and they were deciding who should break. Since the guy racked, the blond broke. She did a pretty good break, Bette noticed. Nowadays, Bette played pool from time to time, she just couldnt find someone else who likes to play pool as much as her. Ten minutes later, she saw the guys pint glass was three quarter empty and the girls half empty and it looks like the cute blond girl is kicking the guys *****. This girl is good she thought to herself.

Her observation was suddenly interrupted as she sees Alice walking towards her way. The guy thats playing pool with the cute blond apparently knew Alice.

Hey you, hows it going? Long time no see! The guy exclaimed to Alice as he waved Alice to come over.

Good, good. Where did ya disappear to? Alice replied.

Well, Ive been busy. You know how it gets around here. The rush of new students coming in enslaved me for extra hours. The guy replied.

Yes indeed youve been busy Alice smirks.

The guy just gave Alice a big grin as the guy snakes his arm around the blondes waist.

So, how long have you guys been together? Alice began her interrogation.

Umm were not The blonde tried to say.

Were together The guy started to say at the same time.

Eh, so you sort out that sexual tension out and get back to me when you figure it out. So, Eric, I believe we havent been properly introduced Alice was referring to the blonde that looks a little uncomfortable.

Sorry, how rude of me! Alice, this is Tina. Tina, this is Alice, my former classmate and former co-worker. Alice extended her hand to shake Tinas hand.

Bette was watching this exchange from a distance and she couldnt take her eyes off the blonde. Tina realized that theyve been watched since they came into the pub turned to Bettes direction and saw Bette waving her hand and turned to Alice.

Hey, is that your friend whos waving there? Tina asked Alice.

Yeah. Im supposed to meet her half an hour ago but I got caught up with my work and forgot time. Shes probably half pissed off by now, not the most patient person in the world. Hang on, Im going to go over there and get her.

Alice walked towards Bettes table and she slipped her bag off her shoulder and put it on one of the empty chairs around Bettes table.

Hey miss fashionably late. I thought you were going to stood me up.

Yeah, got caught up in my work. Sorry. Hey, come here, I want you to meet Eric and his supposed girlfriend that I was talking to you about

Bette stood up and followed Alice to where Eric and Tina are standing.

Eric, meet Bette Porter in flesh. Bette extended her arm out to Eric and smiled.

So, this is the infamous Bette Porter that Alice been talking about all this time.

I see that my name has preceded me thanks to Alice here. Bette flashed her million dollar smile.

Oh, this is my girlfriend, Tina. Eric was introducing to Bette but Tina just elbowed him on his ribcage hinting that he should revise his statement. Tina then quickly extends her hand to shake Bettes and smiled.

Oww Eric squeaked as he holds his ribcage.

Sorry, he just likes to think that were in a relationship. Tina smiled.

Bette just smiled watching the exchange between Tina and Eric. Bette and Tina locked eyes and she felt those warm and soft hands, she felt an instant connection. She felt her heart flutter. Ehm hm Alice pretended to cough indicating that Bette should let go of Tinas hand. Realizing that she might have hold Tinas hand longer than necessary, she quickly retreated her hand and composed herself.

Tina just smiled a knowing smile. She casually retreats her hand. Eric just smiled though he noticed that Bette was somewhat stunned by Tina. Its not the first time shes been hit on by a girl and she has seen that kind of looks before but she hasnt been really attracted to any of them. Well, Shane is a different story. But this time, Bette is different. There is something about her that attracted Tina to this girl. She wished Bette would have stayed longer but she doesnt really know what to say. All she could do is just wished that shell run into her again sometime soon.

Well, it seems that we should let you guys get back to your game. Ive gotta go before my boss decides to fire me. Bette nervously said.

Alice picked up on Bettes nervousness and played along. Yeah, her boss like to give her a hard time even though shes only a few minutes late.

In reality, her boss is quite laid back. Bette happens to be one of Francescas favourite employees, so she gets away with more things like being late for fifteen minutes to half an hour as long as she calls. At this time, though Bette wanted to talk more to Tina, the butterflies in her stomach got the better of her and felt that she has to bolt out of there.

Its nice meeting you. Do you go to school here? Bette asked Tina.

Yeah, I do. Tina replied.

So, I guess Ill see you around. Bette smiled while starting to turn around and walk back towards the table where she left her things.

Yeah. Ill see you around Tinas sentence trailed off as her eyes followed Bettes figure thats walking towards her table to retrieve her things and leave the pub through the double glass door about ten feet from the pool table.

Eric was waving his right hand in front of Tinas face and his left hand is on his hip looking slightly agitated.
